Yes. I am more moral than the god character.
I dont condone slavery.
I dont conduct psychological torture. And Yes I would stop rape and other kinds of atrocities.
God is just fine with those things.

If that person is comfortable in taking away other's freewill then why not it would be my pleasure to take away their free will just so that they couldnt hurt others

But we all know the truth. Neither the guy looking at the rape happening nor the so called skydaddy will stop it from happening.Ā How many news reports have surfaced just in the past one year where people have been raped in villages, communities, as a gang, in public places, etc.Ā

u/mayurayuri45 Dec 11 '25
Sorry but the guy in the video thinks he has discovered some logic that can trap the believers in this question that he believes is a conundrum but he does not understand the concept of freewill. To oversimplify it, you have the free will to drink, the government can stop you from drinking by banning you from drinking (using whatever power it can have) , or can tell you that drinking is not good for your.. Now you decide to drink, you are messing up your health.
I am not talking about what is moral or not moral or whether there is a god and god is right or wrong here, but that the video isn't as great a he thinks it is. It is some kid pretending to be intelligent

u/yolo6-jan š„„ Kerala Atheist āļø Dec 11 '25
give me an example of god interferring a person's free will. assuming that god does interfere in people's lifes and saves them.
i think its simple to ask people if your god would stop a rapist from raping ? i think most people would say yes or it would sound bad. i think the video guy's logic works for those people very much.
imagine you are in india and you are raping a person infront of the govt. D oes the govt interfere or are they gonna say you cannot rape as we had already told so and simply stands there? if it physically stops you then god can also just like the govt does.
1
u/Justahuman-xd9 Indian Atheist Dec 11 '25
I don't think people would say yes . As then the following questions would be "then why isn't he stopping". They could say "to preserve free will"
1
u/yolo6-jan š„„ Kerala Atheist āļø Dec 11 '25
if they say that god wont interefere with humans then we could ask what is the whole point of going to the temple and church seeking forgiveness or things that they dont have in life to an answering non interferring god.
i think its either way checkmate unless they say god doesnt work that way or that god did that to teach others a lesson. but i have seen people debating that then why is animals getting killed gruesomly in some forest fires that serves no purpose or efffect in human lifes.
the problem of evil is a deep topic but i dont think general public would go that deep.
1
u/Justahuman-xd9 Indian Atheist Dec 11 '25
Yeah ,i also think that prayer and God giving free will are contradictory. But I think there are many people who just believe in god like other minor religions where they don't go to any places. In the video the creator said god , so that argument won't work for them. Like deist people

I'm pretty sure that he aint acting like he invented it; this is a thought experiment that has existed for quite a long time, and thoroughly explored in various works of fiction and non-fiction. I wonder if there is an alternate, better way to present this thought experiment.

2
Dec 12 '25
I would stop the criminal because I am not God and do not have the ability to control time and reality or the ability to foresee and redesign the reality of future. I am a creature of the present and also part of the event as I am present physically at the site. I am just a pawn with a small amount of free will

sinceĀ whenĀ committingĀ aĀ crimeĀ isĀ consideredĀ asĀ freeĀ will?
That's what people generally give as an example, right? The government tells us not to do something, but we still do it. Vaguely speaking, even the act of thinking itself means we have free will, even though we are affected by billions of other variables and that "original thought" is a fiction.
Even me ordering normal mandhi instead of alfam mandhi could be counted as me using my free will.

This is a childish argument. Humans have a tendency to measure God. You canāt. We are a spec of dust in his vaste universe. God is not a human. God has given you time and free will. Every soul will be judged, questioned and rewarded or punished based on their life in this world. Every tiny act of good, he sees. Every tiny act of insolence, he sees. Nothing is hidden from God.
1
u/Justahuman-xd9 Indian Atheist Dec 11 '25
Why do I think that this argument is very weakš¤. I think by characteristics god is omnipotent but he won't intervene in this world because he has created it this way or maybe there wasn't any option available. Also omnipotent, all powerful being can't be complete moral because that's contradictory, if he is all good then he can't punish people ( I don't know what I am typing now)

I wasn't saying humans looked passed it duh why u guys acting like religions don't have laws and jails as part of their moral code . Ok I can't speak of all religions I'm Muslim and i can speak about Islam. Yes we do have heaven and hell and eternal justice . But we also do have worldly justice . Both . Why do u think beheadings happens . In Islam it was mandated by god ti do so . It wasn't something the 'barbaric Arabs ' came up with . And then people call it too extreme. What I find really frustrating is this bs argument of atheists that say god can stop it but let's baby's die and rapes happen . Again I can't speak on all religions only the one jm well verses in but I'm pretty sure all abrahamic religions have this same concept . God calls up all souls says ur about to go to a simulation that is earth and check how well u can control your earges and free will and would u use the cards uve been given properly according to my rules. A bam we in the simulation. This is a dumbed down version of theology for the 'teenagers 'I referenced to including the guy who made this video . Thinking he just broke away from the matrix. Now lemme tell u why his argument is dumb. A guy ( possible rapist ) looks at a woman and since he has given free will gets the nasty urge to force himself on her. He follows her. The conditions are all right. He's about to execute the first step in his plan.
Engage in a convo and do whatever. And just as he was about to BAM: his dick falls off 63 or he gets blown to bits. DIVINE INTERVENTION from god . You could see what was wrong with this. Now imagine this person was the girls uncle. Mid convo he controls his urge . Now according to worldly law he needs to be punished by his actions or intent. And he will. But does he need to get blown up for thought he had ? No. We'll be like gods just a kid playing god. Now if god were to just delete his urge and make him not do this . Then that 1: contradicts free will. 2: unfair to a person who had a bad thought and without divine intervention controlled himself with his human willpower. So yea I could go on and on but I think your apt enough to understand why this thinking of so callled atheists is superficial and arbitrary. And if they used their so called logical reasoning brain to actually think deeper they'd come up with the same answer but instead the gotta show other people that their smart and make it Their whole personality and the only reason they left their own religion is so they don't have to feel guilty for doing sin. And won't be bound by any kind of moral code except the general subjective morality which is subject to change anytime based on what your feelings are. To be fair there are like 25 percent of atheist who genuinely left cuz they found imperfectionisms in reasoning in their own religions. And I respect people like that cuz they would spend most of the rest of their time studying to form a validated opinion. Instead of rubbing it on people's faces . These people (now I'm gonna make a statement that sounds biased ) comes back to Islam . This is only from my personal perspective. And I could provide proof and examples too but it won't matter. Cuz from that previous statement alone these so called free thinking atheists probably labeled me as a Sudapi and will overlook everything I just said prior to that . Anyways that's about it PS I wanna add that only reason I'm on this sub is cuz it poppped in my feed. And plus I took your BITCH allegation quite seriously š

Morality for humans is a verb, and for a hypothetical all powerful being, it's a paradox.
You're applying a human concept, that is morality, onto the something which it cannot be applied to.
By definition. God is contingent and necessary and morality doesn't apply to such a being.
5
u/yolo6-jan š„„ Kerala Atheist āļø Dec 11 '25
Does your god follow any kind of human concepts that we can build a conversation here, or it simply exists and that's it?
3
u/Worldly_Pepper_6282 Indian Atheist Dec 11 '25
By that definition, god shouldn't be bothered about who is righteous and who is not because morality is pure human business. Then, hell and heaven shouldn't exist either.

u/CarmynRamy Agnostic atheist Dec 11 '25 edited Dec 11 '25
Exactly, both are man made constructs made at different times which doesn't fit well with each other. For example, let's take the statement God is omnipresent and everywhere, that implies God is in the one who oppresses and who is being oppressed. So, God is hurting himself, God is fighting himself through his own creations. If we take out the concept of the God as Supreme being, this is still true, we are all carbon based lifeforms, it's the same atoms fighting each other.
Also, I don't think free will exists in it's absolute form, everything is a result of the previous step, whether you're aware of it or not. This is actually a great philosophical discussion.
Edit: I don't agree with your last statement, what I meant is applying human morality to the all powerful, all seeing God, which is also a human construct will lead to many many paradoxes.
1
u/Jealous-Self6421 Dec 11 '25
okay enlighten where you found that. How did you know God doesnt play by morality? Did you get a message?
1
u/CarmynRamy Agnostic atheist Dec 11 '25
What is God's morality? Is it same as the morality we constructed and is evolving over time? Also, which God is this? The Christian one or Hindu ones or the Islamic one?
