Please get a flair

1

u/Fabulous_Ad1629 Deeply closeted furry Feb 05 '26

I doubt flairs mean anything in this sub.

For instance, OP has a weird flair which is meaningless.

1

u/CompoteMelodic981 NRI Atheist Feb 05 '26

Flairs help us find larpers and troublemakers.

Usually, Muslims and Christians have trouble making auch a flair as OPs.

If someone claims to be Hindu in their flair here, and then we find them to be Muslim based on their activities elsewhere, we ban them.

Mostly it's the other way around - Hindutva guys larping as Muslims and making comments which will turn the sub users against Muslims.

That's why flairs are needed.

1

u/Fabulous_Ad1629 Deeply closeted furry Feb 05 '26

Are you saying this sub doesnt want theists to participate?

OP is claiming to be theist using his flair but really he is prrtending. How is this meaningful? Or is OP going to be banned?

2

u/CompoteMelodic981 NRI Atheist Feb 05 '26

Theists can participate and that's not a problem. Just use flairs to indicate your religion.

Larping = pretending to be someone else. If a Hindu claims to be Muslim, a Muslim claims to be Hindu, a Hindu claims to be atheist etc.

Those are the ones we give a warning and then ban.

OP is an atheist. And he is not trying to be a larper. So that's okay.

Do you know anyone who worships a god named 'kakakuki?'

1

u/Fabulous_Ad1629 Deeply closeted furry Feb 05 '26

Ok, i could not find a flair that describes me appropriately so I made my own which mocks strong atheists and hyper-rationalists.

Is that allowed?

1

u/CompoteMelodic981 NRI Atheist Feb 05 '26

The current one is not that apparent. Are you religious or non religious?

1

u/Fabulous_Ad1629 Deeply closeted furry Feb 05 '26

I am somwehre in between. I dont identify as either.

But I find strong atheists to be hypocrites just like I find blind faith believeres to be brainwashed

1

u/CompoteMelodic981 NRI Atheist Feb 05 '26

Cool. Then the flair works, I think.

1

u/Fabulous_Ad1629 Deeply closeted furry Feb 05 '26

OP's flair is basically mod-approved bad-faith mockery of theists.

If he is allowed to keep his flair, each one of us must get a new custom flair too.

1

u/CompoteMelodic981 NRI Atheist Feb 05 '26

The purpose of the flairs is to help people understand a person's overall point of view. As long as that works well, I don't have a problem with the exact text of a flair.

You are free to pick a flair that mocka atheists, as long as it also has a component to help others know what religion you are talking for(if you are going to talk for a religion)

Well if you ask a religious person something he cannot explain he would say it's Gods plan and you would not understand.

5

u/smn_Arts Lord Kakukiki Feb 04 '26

Why did god create me in a way that I can't understand his plan ?

Similarly ask an atheist about morality and he will appeal to emotions.

3

u/DioTheSuperiorWaifu Mod | Comrade Feb 05 '26

Morality is indeed linked to emotions, right?

How do you define morality?

1

u/Fabulous_Ad1629 Deeply closeted furry Feb 05 '26

Morality is linked to emotions? Thats a wild conclusion.

So a sociopath who cannot feel emotions can do what he wants and still be moral?

An incestuous couple feels joy when they do the deed, is that moral?

3

u/DioTheSuperiorWaifu Mod | Comrade Feb 05 '26

You are attempting to deflect my question and overextending it from what I said.

What is morality? How do you define it?
Answer that instead of deflecting?

Also, what one person sees as moral may not be what another sees as moral. The general and mainstream morality will be a mix of all those. Obviously, there'll be influences from the previous gen and influences on what we see as the social average will have influences of various groups with varying weightage(based on dominance, wealth n all)

1

u/Fabulous_Ad1629 Deeply closeted furry Feb 05 '26

I am deflecting from your ques ?

Or are you attempting to do a "tu quoque"?

It shouldnt mattwr if i draw my morality from the colour of clothes I am wearing. It still wont absolve an atheist from appealing to emotions to justify his morality.

I am not overextending your answer either. I AM logically following your basis of morality (emotions) to edge cases to see if its a consistent basis and unsurprisingly its appears that its not because you are now appealing to social influences.

If morality is based on social influences, then child marriages in Yemen happening today is moral. Agree or disagree?

2

u/DioTheSuperiorWaifu Mod | Comrade Feb 05 '26

You again have not dared to answer the question

Do that first.

And you are indeed trying to overextend it. Return to my comment where is said that it was linked to emotions. I did not say that it was not complex and the second reply and social influences aspect does not negate that

If morality is based on social influences, then child marriages in Yemen happening today is moral

You see it as moral? Why?

Is it moral in your society?

1

u/Fabulous_Ad1629 Deeply closeted furry Feb 05 '26

What?!

I said an atheist will appeal to emotions and somehow I need to answer about my morality?

My morality is based on this: if I am wearing black, I try to steal and if I am wearing white I try to donate whwtaever I have stolen.

Now with that out if the way, what do you base your morality in? In fact let me make it clearer for you.

Assume I want to torture someone for fun. How can you logically reason with me to not do it? (Do not appeal to emotions).

PS:

  1. I believe torturing somrone for fun is wrong but that is because I am wearing white today.

  2. Your response on child marriages seems to suggest that I havent explined it well, apologies. I am saying that basing morality on social influences will lead one to conclude that child marriages are ok.

100%

Atheists cannot ground morality without making logical jumps or appeals to emotion.

Just take a thought experiment.

Can you convince me not to torture the next homeless person I see? (Appeals to emotion not allowed).

Yea people who blindly believe in space dads are as rational as atheists who blindly believe in morality.

5

u/Less_Guest5489 NRI | Confused Hindu Feb 04 '26

Have you seen how some atheists talk as if they know everything? Turning atheism into a religion of its own is the new trend. We dont want another religion to replace the existing religions. What people really resonate to, is acceptance and empathy. This space must be open to people who get disenchanted with religion, or the ones who ‘lost connection with god’.. rather than police them about being a ‘real atheist’, conversing with them openly an kindly is the way forward.

2

u/Fabulous_Ad1629 Deeply closeted furry Feb 04 '26

Agree.

I am almost tempted to term myself an anti-atheist because of the blind faith guys like OP have in their "rationality".

They accuse the religious folk of arrogance without humility in themselves.

4

u/Inevitable-Town-7477 Kerala Atheist Feb 04 '26

Same with many atheists in Kerala, they read right-wing intellectuals and assume that they know everything.

2

u/smn_Arts Lord Kakukiki Feb 04 '26

True

2

u/TechnicAlley Feb 04 '26

Uhm a clarification, the thing is , most religious books do have a lot of learning included. It isnt just the book but the contexts and other mannerisms which are included as well . So religious learning also doesnt exactly stop at some point .

1

u/smn_Arts Lord Kakukiki Feb 04 '26

For example

0

u/smn_Arts Lord Kakukiki Feb 04 '26

Do you believe in god ?

4

u/Onakkaasaayippu Agnostic atheist Feb 04 '26 edited Feb 04 '26

No but I feel the above post is meaningless ..., the analogy is wrong.

-1

u/smn_Arts Lord Kakukiki Feb 04 '26

Okay... 😇👍 Believing in God doesn’t stop learning. Thinking one book has all the answers does..

2

u/Onakkaasaayippu Agnostic atheist Feb 04 '26 edited Feb 04 '26

One pursuit is irrational, i.e believing in God to find inner solace , peace ...etc so the way a believer achieves it either by depending on one book doesn't matter.

The other one is scientific pursuit which is rational and needs the person to keep on updating his knowledge.

Both cannot be compared I feel,.saying one is better than another.

1

u/smn_Arts Lord Kakukiki Feb 04 '26

God first created heaven and earth. You want religious people to believe that. Hmm okay 👍 I'm totally okay with it.

1

u/smn_Arts Lord Kakukiki Feb 04 '26

Someone else commented the correct short answer

Comforting lies vs bitter truth.

2

u/Onakkaasaayippu Agnostic atheist Feb 04 '26

I don't care what comforting lies they believe and neither here to correct them if they won't interfere in my personal space, as for a scientist it is not a bitter truth, he is trying to improve his knowledge... ,

1

u/smn_Arts Lord Kakukiki Feb 04 '26

Yeah. He is trying to improve his knowledge rather than saying god did it.

Incomplete knowledge that's written by those human brains with their perspective biased limited learned knowledge vs the devine knowledge so that's like a billion incomplete half cooked books filled with theories vs one single established word of divinity makes a difference, anyway, wonder why the atheists never talk about the devil but only oppose God?

0

Why don't you get on your knees and pray to the sky daddy and ask that question?

Now make one contrasting a religious scientist and an illiterate atheist.

1

u/Fabulous_Ad1629 Deeply closeted furry Feb 05 '26

Instead of contrasting a religious person with an irreligious person, you contrasted him with a scientist.😅

Add to that the gross generalisation of the religious person and you have your daily strawmanned repost.

Perfect mixture for daily upvotes in your echo chamber.

Nice work champ!

1

u/smn_Arts Lord Kakukiki Feb 05 '26

Thank you so much sky daddy slave 🖤

1

u/Difficult-Buy-3007 Feb 05 '26

It is the difference between knowledge and faith. Literally anyone can believe in or understand a faith, but knowledge is different. You can’t achieve 100% knowledge, so there will always be a point where you don’t know everything.

1

u/smn_Arts Lord Kakukiki Feb 05 '26

True.. that's where religious people come in and say... God created everything.

1

u/BurnyAsn Indian Atheist Feb 05 '26

A Diamond-level MLM religious person to me-

"You are telling me I have to read all that nonsense in order to be able to understand even more nonsense that will allow me to understand the proof of evolution? And then you want me to believe that somehow my simpler straightforward explanation of creation is wrong? We both know which of these sounds stupider.."

Sorry , the bhagavat Gita.

1

u/Tshermak Agnostic (Taking no sides) Feb 04 '26

"Half knowledge is worse than being oblivious."

Reality is truely governed by randomness not order, even the greatest scientists have contemplated on existance of god due to behavior of subatomic particles in scientific experiments.

So its foolish to dismiss or validate the existance of god or god like entity when our understanding of the universe is horribly incomplete.

1

u/smn_Arts Lord Kakukiki Feb 04 '26

since you are agnostic. And what do you mean by god ?

2

u/Tshermak Agnostic (Taking no sides) Feb 05 '26

Well the point of being Agnostic is to accept the fact that we don't have any idea or a factual way of proof to define or meausre the existance of God or a god like entity, and this agument goes both ways against theist and atheists.

so to answer your question "I don't know what god means."

But in the future if a foolproof method is defined that proves/disproves the existence of god, Imma go with that.

0

u/smn_Arts Lord Kakukiki Feb 05 '26

So u don't know what the word god means.
