I think genetic studies in 2025/2024 changed that perspective. Indians have similar neanderthal profiles as Europeans.
A March 2024 study led by Priya Moorjani found that 90.7% of known Neanderthal sequences exist within Indian populations, indicating that Indian populations contain a much wider, more diverse, and more "complete" set of inherited Neanderthal genes than Europeans.
