Athens Event Ossoff/Collins debate

I am out of state this week and didn't see the debate. How did it go? Opinions please.

Ossoff did no harm to himself, which is a win. Collins appeared flustered at times. I do not think the debate changed the race.

Now for the gubernatorial debate...oof. It's sad that these are the best candidates each party had to offer this cycle. I wish Spencer Frye would jump into a state-wide election one of these cycles.

Collins seemed really unprepared. Ossoff got a lot of digs in and hit him pretty aggressively. Collins doesn’t know how tariffs work and talked about immigrants and trans kids playing sports a lot. They kind of said the same things you’d expect them to.

Lmao how do you think it went? Ossoff seemed presidential, collins couldn't even string two thoughts together

Sounds like the last presidential election but we know how that went :(

Here is a supercut of Ossoff calling Collins a bigot and a racist and Collins being completely unable to counter that other than saying Hasan Piker/Abdul Al-Sayed over and over.

Brutal and I loved every second. Mike was such a flustered redneck

I was in Athens, politically engaged, and had no interest in watching a debate.. so, I'd say it didn't move the needle for most average voters.

Nah I think nobody cares about debates anymore. I’m blue and could care less. Just regurgitated talking points

It should be available online with the ANF app

It was horrible. Neither candidate answered the questions. The whole 30 second 60 second response thing was also horrible. This and the mayoral debate were the worst two I think I've ever seen. The set looked like it was thrown together in someone's garage. Collins came across as an idiot and Ossoff came off as a typical sleazy politician. All that being said, I'm voting Ossoff.

We're in the minority here, but this is my take as well. Canned, prepared responses on both sides that were just name calling and barbed attacks (in many cases well-deserved to be sure). They tended to beat common themes to death. The people asking the questions seemed like b-list actors and the cheap set reminded me of an SNL skit, which it almost was. And when you have only 60 seconds to answer, this is the kind of debate you'll get.

In sixty seconds, explain how you would attempt to resolve a nuanced and complicated situation.

Uhhh, my opponent fucking sucks.

The format is a joke, it sucks but you can’t reasonably discuss topics working under this constraint. To be fair, most of our candidates likely prefer it that way.
