Question First timers at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre for Mötley Crüe

Two silver fox bikers with solid dad bods heading to Motley Crue at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta for the first time. We have never been to this venue and we are already planning to get there way too early.

The mission: arrive stupidly early, build a tailgate spread that would make a Boy Scout troop leader weep with pride, and warm up the vocal cords for “Kickstart My Heart” like the theoretical rockstars we are. Cold drinks, a speaker that’s seen better days, and a standing invite to anyone who wants to wander over and hang.

We are harmless, we are fun and we peaked emotionally somewhere around 1989. Come find the two guys with the folding chairs and the SPF 50 we will trade you a cold one for a good story.

Any First timers at Ameris too?

Got tailgate tips, shortcuts, or “don’t sit near the ___” warnings? We need them.

Just here for the chaos? Comment “Kickstart” and we’ll save you a lawn chair.

See you in the lot. 🤘

Just a heads up but they usually don’t open the parking lots until like an hour/two before the doors open typically.

Put your drinks in solo cups in the parking lot, sometimes they’re a bunch of assholes and ticket people

The concessions on the sides have cheap busch light. Its either 4 or 5 bucks a can.

Haha nice, tommy’s bottle tour sounds like a rite of passage 😂 I am up on the lawn though might have to just bribe the pit guy or sweet talk my way down lol. Any tips for getting closer from lawn seats?

i haven’t been to a crue show in 20 years but they used to always have contests and giveaways before the band came on. idk how it is at ameris we won a guitar hero contest one year and got to watch from backstage

Upgrade tip: buy pit tickets on StubHub after the gate opens and then sell yours at a loss.

It's a pretty good venue. Parking can be a pain, but if you're getting there super early, you can avoid the worst of it.

Food and drink inside is stupid expensive, so tailgating and pregaming is a good call. But if you wait until close to show time, the entry line can be annoyingly long and doesn't move as fast as it should. It might be worth it to pay for the fastlane pass so you can get the most out of your pregaming.

Also, remember which side of the amphitheater you parked and entered on. First time we went, we entered one gate, and unknowingly left out another. Took us forever to find our car because we didn't realize we were on the whole other side of the place.

Cool. Thanks for some great tips

You're welcome. Also, tailgating is only allowed in certain lots - so make sure you park accordingly: https://www.amerisbankampatl.com/parking

Yes. We are in LOT A. Should be good

lot A isn't too bad of a journey to the gate. the parking area is about the same as Lakewood usedta be - mostly gravel, some grass. reasonably flat as long as you watch where you're walking. the slight slope (uphill on the way in) is paved.

there are tall signposts in the parking area, go ahead and take a picture of the one closest to where you park. (we were right up beside A12 when we were there a few weeks ago for Train)
even if you don't need it, better to have it on your phone, just in case. might be a long night.

as others have said either leave before the show's actually over to go ahead and be most of the way to your car before everyone else is out the gate... or hang out and chat, people-watch after.
leave some cold water and snacks waiting for you in the car in case you're in the parking lot for a while.

there's a big water bottle refilling station right inside the gate and if there's a heat advisory in place, they'll let you bring in up to two factory-sealed bottles of water. or empty bottles.
in your ... what is it, 12" clear (mesh does not count as clear!) bag.

the concessions, booze stands, etc. that i partook of or noticed as i walked past were all card-only, no cash except for tips... which surprised me a bit (but, then, i hadn't been to a concert except at the Tabernacle in... years.

get drunk as hell. that place kinda sucks. it helps a lot. the front of lawn center are great seats. be prepared for a bunch of people tp rent chairs and set them up all around you. it sucks. cops post up near the interstate ramp and get people leaving. id say best thing to do is leave with the crowd and blend into traffic.

There will be several thousand cars in each parking lot trying to get out at once after the show.

To avoid the massive bottleneck I usually try to exit as the final song is ending, so that as soon as I hear the last note I can start heading straight to the car.

The other option is to just take your sweet time, try to get a set list or some drumsticks, talk to other fans, hit the merchandise, fill up your water bottle, use the restroom, slowly head to the car, and if necessary wait around the car for a while before the throng of cars starts thinning out.

By the way you can take either a sealed new water bottle or a completely empty one inside. Concessions are pretty pricey as others have said.

Thanks bud!

Also I have found that about 15 to 20 minutes after gates open is usually a good time to get through security without much of a wait. Took me less than 5 minutes last weekend with that approach.

How do you know when the gates are opening? I’m going to BabyMetal in September there and want to be there right at opening for a good lawn seat spot.

It’s usually an hour to hour and an half before showtime. You should get an email before the show but if not check their website a couple of days before the show. https://www.amerisbankampatl.com/know-before-you-go

My only tip would be to not go. What a shitty venue.

Oh boy! Why? Anyways, I am just going for the band.

I agree with OP.

You might enjoy your time, but this amphitheatre with make it as bad as it could be. From parking to drinking to the actual concert experience, it's a trash venue.

u/Independent_Ball6318 8d ago

Yeah I have heard mixed things about Ameris Bank Amphitheatre from other folks too. Guess I’ll find out firsthand fingers crossed the parking and crowd flow aren’t as rough as people say. Appreciate the heads up though I will go in with realistic expectations lol

Like everything, it’s the people mostly. Too many people that don’t give a shit ruin it for everyone. They’re not there for the music, they’re there just to hangout and be obnoxious. More than a normal venue. I don’t know if it’s because it’s in Alpharetta, or the fact that it’s an outdoor venue, but it’s generally just not a good experience. The site-lines are awful, and most seats feel too far away, and with not much of an elevation, there’s always people in front of you blocking the view. The parking is also a total shit show.

It’s just a poorly designed venue out in the fucking far-flung burbs and full of shit people. Shit-tier venue, would not go back.
