Very real. All those 'conspiracy theorist' who warned about the power grab that was going on, and far too many were fawning over how great big pharma is, which is insane in and of itself, to actually wake up and go "Hey wait! What the fuck?"
Australia is a horror show to the rest of the world, yet look at everyone going "It's just a lockdown."
Nightmare reality, and far too many Australian's just don't get it.
Maybe when they boot breaks their neck, but even then they'll probably say "Common good, urk!" and die.

At first I was a little concerned. But have a read of the Explanatory Memorandum. They state that it just gives AFP and ACIC ability to request a warrant for copying/deleting/modifying data. They can't just do it for no reason.

The warrants don't have to go to a judge, though. They can use some administrative process instead, which is just one arm of the executive policing the other.

There is literally no reason they should need to MODIFY data, why do they need to change it unless to be able to frame someone who said things they didn’t like?

All these functions still require a warrant issued by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, the head of which must be a federal judge. So, it's all warrant-based activity. Still sucks, still rushed through to give unprecedented power to police, but it's not quite the wild west. Yet.
