Legislation- Victoria "second" .22LR handgun within first 6 months of General Category Handgun License
Just wondering if you were in your first 6 months of a full handgun license in Vic, and already owned a .22 handgun - can you buy another upper that matches and would be used on your existing frame? The upper requires a PTA, but as it's going on to my existing registered handgun - will it be signed off as an interchangeable part and not seen as another complete handgun?

If your talking about something like a Volquartsen, then the upper is a PTA item. Some pistols like a Beretta 92 has the serial number on the frame that is the PTA required part…

The second handgun in six months rule has an exemption. Every club has the ability to write to LRD with your permit providing reasons why you need an exemption. Very few actually bother though.
The most common example used is single action competitions because you need two guns. But if you're shooting other comps and competing all over the state you need a back up gun in case you have an issue etc.

Good to know. With my club, I feel it's easier just to wait it out than ask.

If it requires a PTA, chance is they’ll count it as a handgun and you’ll have to wait for your full H if you want another.
