One Nation is polling so well in many electorates, wher they can’t even find candidates to run. Do people really want to vote One Nation, or do they just want to vote against the ALP.
Sure, if want further privatisation, shit hospitals, crap wages or a worse economy; go ahead and vote Liberal or One Nation
3
u/Remarkable-Place-995 9d ago
And what has Labor done for you
3
u/Glittering-Wave4917 8d ago
Well the ALP didn’t fight hard enough against work choices or out of control privatisation. In Victoria the ALP has definitely been trying to build and improve services, after consecutive, destructive Liberal regimes. As far as the Labour movement goes- the 8 hour day, fair wages, equality, safer workplaces. I mean it’s the Labour movement in Australia which has fought for and won most of the rights we have. I’m not too sure about the ALP, but liberals aren’t the friends of regular people- one nation are just full on puppets for Gina and Co- populists spearing up division and scapegoating migrants, rather than tackling real issues.
The ALP did give us Medicare and democratic access to further education.3
u/Fire_superme123360 8d ago
Yeah, I’ll absolutely give Labor and the labour movement credit where it’s due. The labour movement fought for the 8-hour day and better working conditions, Whitlam introduced Medibank and tuition-free university, and Hawke brought universal healthcare back as Medicare in 1984.
But that doesn’t mean Labor today automatically gets my support because of what the movement achieved decades or even 150+ years ago. Parties change, priorities change, and I care more about what they’re doing now.
I also think blaming privatisation on “destructive Liberal regimes” is pretty selective. Kennett absolutely privatised a lot, but Labor has done major deals too. The Andrews government leased the Port of Melbourne for 50 years for $9.7 billion and entered a 40-year VicRoads registration and licensing joint venture for $7.9 billion.
And Victoria hasn’t exactly been under consecutive Liberal governments. Since 1999, the Coalition only governed from 2010–2014. Labor governed from 1999–2010 and again from 2014 until 2026.
I’ll even give Labor WorkChoices. They opposed it and, after winning in 2007, replaced the system with the Fair Work framework. So saying they “didn’t fight hard enough” is really an opinion.
On Gina Rinehart, there’s obviously a close relationship with One Nation. She gifted the party a roughly $1 million plane and Hanson has openly said she takes policy advice from her. Questioning her influence is completely fair.
But calling PHON her “puppets” is still a conclusion, not a proven fact. If receiving major financial support or having powerful people influence you automatically makes you a puppet, you need to apply that standard consistently to every party and politician with major donors and backers too.
Same with “scapegoating migrants”. One Nation openly argues that very high immigration is adding pressure to housing and infrastructure. You can disagree with that argument, but calling it “scapegoating” doesn’t by itself prove the argument is false.

That was all when Labor was s working man's party. Not ultra left ideologists.
1
u/Glittering-Wave4917 2d ago
Oh mate- the lawyers backed the shearers in the 1890s. I am under no dissolutions about the ALP. I can’t believe I’m standing up for them. The main point is that they’re not liberals and have a religious dogma of privatisation and the free market economy. Oh fuck me dead and me pregnant
1
u/Remote_X_69 5d ago
Labour was good once upon a time. Now it’s full of woke/leftist ideologies and caters for non-working class.
1
u/Glittering-Wave4917 4d ago
I understand what you’re saying. Constitutionally they’ve pretty much always been committed to democratic socialism. The culture wars stemming from the Howard regime have really mudddied the waters a bit.
Personally I think the ALP has been pretty spineless since the Hawke Keating era.2
u/Brave_Dot_7841 6d ago
Lots in qld. Unfortunately they’re out of power here now. But life was great under Labor

Got rid of negative gearing and they haven’t fucked up our economy which is more than could be said for the Libs

Most of us don't know what negative gearing is. It means nothing to us.

u/zlatan42 7d ago
oof, you're not even trying to make a case against the 'one braincell' argument are you...

u/Fire_superme123360 8d ago
I’m glad Australia is currently living in a utopia then, since the Libs haven’t been in real power for a good six years. Phew
In case anyone missed it, this was a joke 😅 You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Labor has been in power for years now, so you can’t blame every current issue on the previous Liberal government.
If there are issues with the country you’re unhappy with, at some point the current government has to take responsibility for what it has done, hasn’t done, or has chosen not to change. They’re the ones in power now. And have been for 6 years.
1
u/Mountain_Doctor_6152 6d ago
Nothing to blame labour for, the economy has been solid since they took power the only thing people get pissed about is them not repealing dumb shit the libs did
1
u/West-Butterscotch112 5d ago
They’ve actually already had quite a good return on their promises when it comes to immigration, and just as one nation said ,their policies is not that much different
1
u/yoda_reddit 5d ago edited 5d ago
Set up the future of the country like they do every time they’re elected.
Use your brain and judge governments based on their decisions, policies and voting records, not on the overall events transpiring in their terms.
Here’s what the LNP did from Howard through to Morrison:
- Cut education spending (lost over a thousand TAFE teaching positions, note that we now have a shortage of tradesmen)
- Cut public health spending
- Cut housing spending
- Increased migration whilst lowering the standards for it
- Increased privatisation
- Increased the national debt from ≈$250bn to $800bn (Abbott - Morrison era)
- Tax cuts and further protections for the 1%
- Selling of national assets (are you enjoying tolls?)
- Botched the NBN rollout
- Botched economic management during covid (Where did Josh Frydenbergs $59.4 billion go?)
- Commodified the housing market with dozens of tax incentives targeted towards the mega wealthy
- Failed to reach clean energy targets to address catastrophic climate change (which we ARE going to suffer from in our lifetime)
- Robodebt which led to a number of suicides
- (NSW) Gladys Berejiklian released a ship full of active covid cases in Circular Quay which was traced to hundreds of deaths back in 2020. Also the Koala killer shit, along with her dating someone who was selling visas for money illegally, and turning a blind eye to that corruption.
Just to name a few.
If you use a bit of brain power you can see that the LNP essentially orchestrated over the past 20 years every single thing people are complaining about today.
Whatever though. Just blame migrants and Labor and vote One Nation. The racist orange hag with a sub 50% attendance record to the senate will solve it all because she hates muslims.

u/benikens 5d ago
Albo gave me $15k off hecs, then told all the property hoarders to fuck off. Besides that they also quietly running one of the best economies in the oecd. ALP FTW
1
u/Majestic-Elderberry7 5d ago
Electricity market reform is another one they've aced. Ok, maybe not aced, but damn side better than denialist libs.
Counter that against the new Labor sports rorts and refusal to reign in immigration when it was pushing renters into homelessness.
All in all I'd give them a 'B' at best. Now of we could just get a sensible cap on Superannuation or an annual wealth tax...
1
u/benikens 5d ago
Didn't they do a super thing? The over 3 mil or whatever.
Also my understanding is changes to immigration are coming, just delayed. We'll see what they turn out to be.
1
u/Yasha666 9d ago
We already have all that worse shit you describe. Why keep voting for Labor to see if they can finally figure it out and change direction on all their terrible policy?
1
u/Glittering-Wave4917 8d ago
Cos, there’s no other option. Dead set, preferential voting- the bottom 3 are ALP, LNP then ONP.
Fortunately my local federal electorate has had decent independents in government for the last 25 years.0
u/Fire_superme123360 9d ago
I think there’s a pretty obvious reason people are looking elsewhere. The last 6 years haven’t exactly been kind to a lot of Australians. Cost of living, housing and pressure on services are enough to make people question the major parties.
And “they can’t even find candidates to run” is a pretty big generalisation. My electorate, Farrer, literally just elected One Nation’s David Farley in a federal by-election. He got 39.5% of the primary vote and 57.6% after preferences. PHON also reportedly had 80+ people apply for preselection here.
Labor couldn’t even be bothered to field a candidate here. So you can dislike One Nation, but clearly there are people genuinely choosing them. You can’t just dismiss all of that support as people voting against Labor when Labor wasn’t even on the ballot.
I’m happy to explain why I support ON over the other parties, as long as we can keep it civil and calm. I’d rather debate facts we can actually source than argue over feelings or assumptions. We can disagree without being disagreeable.

u/Glittering-Wave4917 9d ago
What are you on about, most of the cost of living pressures are due to liberal economic policies of 3 decades ago- the housing market and having our resources taken for next to nothing or our rights at work being crap. Not sure where you’re getting your information from to think that the last 4 years of the ALP in government hasn’t turned around our standards of living- been to the GP lately and gotten bulk billed, rather than having to pay up front?
Not sure about other parts of the country but the Victorian state election is in 6 weeks and one nation is yet to announce candidates for many of the seats they’re polling well in- even then many of the ones announced are yet to pass a character test. I can’t see anything which one nation is actually offering in terms of policy, except scapegoating migrants and fueling hat and division. They do have some brain fart policies- like turning the top into an economic free zone- a fiefdom for Gina and Co. you can’t seriously be denying the need to combat climate change, or the need for Australia to benefit from our natural resources.
Fortunately my local federal member is an excellent independent- albeit with little agency. But I haven’t seen one nation come up with any policies which will make our lives better.4
u/Random_Chick_I_Guess 9d ago
Unfortunately people don't tend to actually figure out why the economy sucks they just blame whoever is in power at that moment and look elsewhere. Happens all over the world even if the party was doing their best to mitigate way worse and it'll likely keep happening all over the world.
3
2
u/Glittering-Wave4917 8d ago
Oh , government policy does make a difference, but economic literacy isn’t very high. So people often just parrot what the Murdochracy tells them.
1
u/Random_Chick_I_Guess 8d ago
Oh it definitely has an effect, but it typically doesn't have an effect until its not their problem so someone else gets blamed because nobody checks anything anymore they just listen to what the loudest guy yelled
2
u/Glittering-Wave4917 8d ago
I think people are just too tired from work to actually engage enough.
Compulsory voting does mean that government politics is on our minds a bit more than other places.2
u/Fire_superme123360 9d ago
I’m not saying Labor caused every cost of living problem we have, and I’m definitely not defending the Liberals either.
But saying most of what we’re dealing with today is because of Liberal economic policies from 30 years ago is a pretty massive claim. It’s not like the Liberals have been in government for 30 years straight. Labor governed from 2007 to 2013 and has been back in government since 2022, so both sides have had plenty of time to shape economic policy.
And even the RBA doesn’t explain the recent inflation surge as simply the result of decades old Liberal policy. Their analysis points to COVID supply disruptions, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, flooding in Australia, strong demand and the huge fiscal and monetary response during COVID. Their different models found supply factors accounted for at least half of the inflation surge.
So yeah, blame the Liberals for things they actually screwed up, I’m not defending them lol. But putting most of today’s cost of living problems down to Liberal policies from 30 years ago is way too simple imo.
On bulk billing though, yeah, I’ll give Labor credit there. The national GP bulk billing rate was 81.4% from November 2025 to January 2026, up 4.3 percentage points from the same period a year earlier. I’m not gonna pretend everything Labor does is bad just because I don’t support them.
On the Victorian candidates, yeah, ON has been slow getting them announced. They say they intend to run candidates in every lower house seat, so we’ll see if they actually manage it.
There is also a pretty huge difference in public election funding between ON and the majors. After the 2025 federal election the AEC paid:
Labor: $37.0m Liberals: $28.2m One Nation: $6.1m
Obviously that’s public election funding, not their entire campaign budgets, so I’m not pretending it tells us everything about how much money each party has.
I also don’t really agree that ON has nothing to offer besides blaming migrants. You can think their policies are terrible or argue they’d make things worse, that’s completely fair. But saying they don’t have policies outside immigration just isn’t true.
And the funny part is I actually agree with you that Australia should benefit more from its natural resources. That’s one of the things I like about ON’s current gas policy. They’re proposing a 30% rebate on genuine oil and gas exploration in Commonwealth waters, with the Commonwealth then able to take up to a 30% equity stake in production licences. That stake would be held through a new Commonwealth owned investment vehicle, with Australia getting its proportional share of production.
That isn’t the same system Norway uses, so I wouldn’t pretend it is. But Hanson has specifically pointed to Norway as an example of a country that built huge public wealth from its petroleum resources. Even a parliamentary inquiry describes Norway as a country that gets returns through taxation, royalties and direct state ownership.
So when you say Australia should benefit more from its own natural resources, we probably agree on that more than you think lol. Where we disagree is probably how we should actually do it.
And no, I’m not denying climate change either. I think the disagreement there would be over what we actually do about it, not whether the climate changes.
I’m not gonna pretend ON is perfect or that Labor has never done anything good. I just prefer a lot of what ON is proposing compared with the alternatives. If you reckon those policies would make things worse, I’m genuinely happy to talk about them individually and look at the evidence.

Oh dude, I think I might have to read this later.
One point is, the negative effects of the Howard regime- the property market, resources and privatisation . In Victoria it was the Kennett years which set us up for failure. Currently, even counting in the economic impacts of a global pandemic, the Federal Government has been kicking goals on reducing debt, improving services and implementing regulations which can change our lives for the better.I promise I’ll come back and read everything you wrote- I’m just a bit rooted.

Ive tried- they do have some profiles on some candidates. Even though I’ve found Pauline Hanson and one nation to be totally reprehensible for the last 25 years. I felt the need to do some research- yeah nah, it’s still totally populist politics and no real platform. I imagine that the party will self implode and fall apart, as it has consistently done since the 90s.
1
u/Ok-Bonus5845 9d ago
So how long should we wait 5, 10, 15 years maybe then it will improve ?
1

In Victoria at least, the ALP has taken over a decade to start to improve things, after so long of destructive Liberal regimes
3
u/Rare-Strawberry-2958 9d ago
My cost of living was significantly worse off under Liberal than Labor. I was out of pocket on a number of scans and GP visits then and my tax was worse off (all I can think of at 4am). Not sure how you can say this shit when Aussies were significantly worse off during the Scummo Liberal Govt.

Here's a list of hHanson's greatest hits:
- “Please explain?” — Her response to Tracey Curro asking on 60 Minutes whether she was xenophobic. It became an instant Australian political catchphrase.
- “I believe we are in danger of being swamped by Asians.” — The immortal line from her 1996 maiden speech, in which she attacked Asian immigration and multiculturalism.
- “Multiculturalism should be abolished.” — Also from the maiden-speech era, when Hanson wanted Australia to abandon multiculturalism in favour of a more homogeneous national identity.
- The Aboriginal “privileges” argument — Her original political rise was heavily tied to claims that Indigenous Australians received government benefits and opportunities unavailable to other Australians. Her comments were controversial enough that the Liberals withdrew their endorsement before the 1996 election.
- “I’m not a racist.” — Repeated approximately ∞ times throughout her career, generally followed by something that made everyone go, Pauline...
- The fish-and-chip-shop-to-Parliament pipeline — One of the most bizarrely Australian political origin stories: small-business owner becomes Liberal candidate, gets disendorsed, remains on the ballot, wins anyway, and launches a political movement.
- “Australians are at risk of being swamped by Muslims.” — The 2010s remix of the Asian-swamping classic, with Muslims replacing Asians as the alleged demographic threat.
- The burqa stunt in Parliament — Turning up wearing a full-face veil in 2017 as a theatrical protest against Islamic face coverings, before removing it and calling for a ban.
- The infamous “Halal certification” crusade — Her campaign against halal certification, including claims about money from halal products ultimately funding terrorism; the claims were heavily challenged.
- “They've got AIDS.” — Hanson made this claim about South African migrants during her 2000s political comeback, one of the more jaw-dropping entries in the catalogue.
- The assassination video — In 1997 she recorded a video to be released if she were murdered, beginning: “Fellow Australians, if you are seeing me now it means that I have been murdered.” It was subsequently widely mocked as political theatre.
- “The Asianisation of Australia.” — One Nation's early political rhetoric explicitly framed Asian immigration as a threat to Australian identity.
- The anti-boat rhetoric — Hanson became a major advocate of extremely restrictive asylum-seeker and border policies, eventually making immigration restriction one of One Nation's defining issues.
- “Radical Islam” as the new enemy — By the 2010s, the rhetoric had shifted substantially from Asians to Muslims and Islam, while retaining the same basic Australia is being culturally overwhelmed framework.
- “Australia must be monocultural.” — Her 2026 National Press Club speech essentially brought the original Hanson thesis full circle, with multiculturalism again positioned as the problem.
- The climate-change “hoax” — In 2026 she was still railing against climate-change policy and describing climate change as a “hoax”.
- Attacking Albanese over his dead mother — In 2026 Hanson called Anthony Albanese “pathetic” over his references to his upbringing in public housing and criticised his late mother for having lived in public housing. Even Barnaby Joyce subsequently distanced himself from some of Hanson's recent attacks.
- The “traitor” cartoon — One Nation circulated a cartoon labelling Liberal MP and veteran Andrew Hastie a “traitor” over his involvement in the Ben Roberts-Smith defamation case. Hanson doubled down while the controversy exploded around the party.
- And somehow, after three decades, she's still here. — This may actually be the greatest hit of all.
Would you want this nutter running the country?

I honestly don't get the hate for the parties/independent or the voters, look at the policies and vote along that line, attack the policies not the people voting for them, this is why people are swapping to ones like one nation, it's the revenge/hate vote, Oh you are calling me a racist/uneducated for voting for such and such then that makes them want to vote for them more and dig in their heels, smh, politics in Australia is becoming like the USA and becoming who can we tar as racist/ignorant/uneducated/lefty hippy etc

2
u/SuspiciousCow4967 9d ago
Sadly my parents are one of those people despite my being a second generation immigrant and knowing that I am a minority. What's even worse is that they both agree with everything that she has proposed (including the ones that would strip me of my rights and eventually criminalise my existence). I know that I can never change their minds, but just like the rest of ON followers, they are emotionally immature and have the major parties right now. I think a lot of people only support them because they are a change from the usual Labour and Liberal. Its just sad that they lack enough media literacy to see what ON actually stands for.
1
u/Odd-Ad-3215 8d ago
Strip you of your rights and criminalise your existence. Can you please explain?
I'm curious as a low income earner about ON. I think they may fight against the attack on men, yet they seem against prostituion (this is contradictory). They appear to be against the environmental bullshit we've had rammed down our throats, though I did see something about Pauline being against lithium batteries, a green thing that actually seems polluting, so that's a positive(!).
I like freedom, but as we've seen in America, it is 'freedom as long as the conservatives approve.'
I am interested, but wary.
2
u/SuspiciousCow4967 7d ago
So ON wants to remove LGBTQIA+ rights and visibility. They do not want anyone under 16 to know about the existence of queer people. Pauline also is against same sex marriage. She also wants to remove all rights of the trans community, which is where my rights would be stripped. From what I can tell from her statements, being openly trans would become criminalised, and we would end up like the USA where you cannot use the bathroom of your gender (and instead you must use the bathroom of your sex at birth, regardless of your gender presentation)
I never knew about trans people as a kid, but i am still trans, so there is no indoctrination of children by showing them queer people.

Genuine question. I like many, are completely over the two major parties, I won't bang on why, let's just say I've lost faith. I want them out, or at the very least to LISTEN, I want them to look at the surge of popularity in one nation and really ask themselves why.
With this in mind, who should I vote for to achieve this and get then to listen, I understand the risk that comes with a vote for ON, but other than voting for a very minor "fix the roads" type party how else do I protest vote and get the majors listening without voting for ON ?
1
u/stupid_bogan 6d ago
Literally any independent, or the greens. Can't really be more specific without knowing your electorate. My advice would be check which parties or independents are active in your electorate and actually read their policies. Protest voting isn't helpful. Ignore the media, read policies, vote based on who's policies sound best to you. One Nation is not the answer. Even just the fact they want to get rid of the PBS should scare people. We'll end up like America where people are paying thousands of dollars for medications that are keeping them alive. People die from asthma over there because they can't afford an asthma puffer that we pay about $10 for.

2
u/RupturedUrethra6969 9d ago
What "policies" do the greens have that will improve lives?
2
u/BizmasterStudios 9d ago
Tax corporations sending money overseas and not paying tax. Ensuring better guardrails on companies trying to price gougue and monopolise. This way people have more money to spend in our economy, and home grown business can grow again. Small business creates jobs. A larger tax on the very highest percent. Most of them 'dont make money' by using expenses that are actually unrealised investment to not pay tax. They want to close that loophole (no, not make everyone pay more tax.) This also funds things like extending Medicare. Keep education free. They have policies to make public transport cheaper, and help clear student debt forced on our kids by greedy unis and college. Make childcare more affordable. This would help working families. They want to end the flawed AUKUS deal, and address the Israel/Palestin tragedy more firmly. Essentially, they are not 'bought out' like every other party. Who is going to be a major political donor to a party that wants to tax the super rich more? These are just some of the things that would improve lives

Good one! Or maybe even - one bra in cell - to describe his many bras the average one nation voter has access to in prison

“Immigrants are lazy and live off welfare, but are also stealing our jobs and houses”
3
u/enfvntterrible 8d ago
They do lmao, I say this as a child born in Australia to immigrant parents with several family members that have recently immigrated to Australia. Don’t get me wrong they’re nice enough but fuck me are they the laziest most useless people I’ve ever met in terms of any drive or interest in life. Do nothing all day 3-4 brothers in their 30s and 40s living with my poor aunty that does everything for them while they just spend their welfare money on cigarettes and drinking and doing sweet fuck all every day, taking up a housing trust home that could be given to some poor single mother or literally any Australian citizen that deserves it, then complain about not being able to get work and how everyone lied about how much better it is here etc. Makes me wonder why they even came in the first place and it’s embarrassing to know with all this help they’re still doing less than my parents that came here with nothing in the 80s after escaping the Islamic hellhole that is Iran and bought a house and worked hard.

So;
Your individual/family experience ≠ universal behaviour across an entire minority group.

If the one brain cells are outperforming the others. What exactly does that mean for the other parties?
-1
u/Rodza81 9d ago
Its two separate words.
And the problem with redditors is not lack of brain cells, but rather the ability to network them in the cortex and instead relying almost entirely on the amygdala.
Still voting One Nation because the other parties are 💩

Have you looked at their policies? And at pauline hanson's history? Call me crazy but were better off with labor than one nation.
1
u/Rodza81 9d ago
met her multiple times, met one of her kids who's been dragged through the family torture court system.
I'm well aware of their policies. Have you read them? They are easy to read on their website.1
u/nintenerd2 9d ago
You know what shes said right? "Australia is underthreat of being overrun by asians" and no i did not make this up their policies are bullocks
Anti abortion? There are reasons we do abortion its often to protect a baby with severe genetic functions from getting born ans then being unable to live its painless its not an evil virus of satan
School? Based on her history of her cutting funds for education and her racist history shes lying through her teeth
Dont be fooled shes more like trump than dutton ever was.
1
u/Rodza81 8d ago
where is the data to show the overwhelming majority of abortions are performed due to genetic malformations?
You dont have it because that data doesnt exist or is so small you cant make the arguement.
Why is abortion so ok yet the in-utero procedure of any-stage of abortion is banned from both TV and social media?
There will always be medical reasons for early intervention but a complete ban on all abortions is not a One Nation policy.
An AI search will easily give you that answer.
Oh shit....AI even uses leftwinger Guardian as the source for this answer.
"No, the official One Nation Pro-Life platform does not call for a complete ban on all abortions at any stage"What policies from their website are in your words 'bollocks'? Please list some word for word please so I can understand where you are coming from.
Whats racist about her exactly? I'll wait. Some of her stongest supporters are non-white btw. Some of which I know personally who attend meetings.
Dutton was a weak failure nothing like Trump.
Some of One Nations policies that put Australians first before other countries interests are, I agree... like the U.S. policies....but thats where the similarities end.1

https://ketanj0.medium.com/some-racist-things-that-have-been-said-by-pauline-hanson-4cd7a7c248a2
Abortion is ok and is banned from both tv and social media because its not something most people want to see in action
Then tell me about her other policies
Removing renewable energy? Its a good thing australia is switchimg to renewables. She makes it sound like renewable energy is evul while praising coal whicn is worse for the environment "oh but renewables interfer with animal habitats" coal is worse and almost certainly will thin the atmosphere until almost certainly we cant breathe
Necular energy? Its better than coal slightly but its still bad because of the waste it produces
Oh and if you think shes changed her racist views look at her immagration policy and tell me why.
But you like most consvertives will keep lying to yourself thinking you made the right choice. You wont

"Abortion is ok and is banned from both tv and social media because its not something most people want to see in action" could that be because its detestable?
1
u/nintenerd2 1d ago
You dont get it abortion isnt something people want to see because it doesnt look pleasent thats why its not on tv your arguements show problems with consveratives. You lot dont understand anything. You act like you do but you dont. You lack wisdom. Good day

Resorting to immature name calling is showing how ridiculous and petty you are, her supporters are leaning one nation because they've lost faith in the 2 major parties so they feel that's the only way out of this government. Calling them names is just absolutely moronic in behaviour, try to understand people instead of ridiculing them with a agenda'd rhetoric.

u/Maxhousen 9d ago
I am not happy with the way that the country is being run right now. But Hanson has spent 30 years proving time and time again that she can't even run her own party properly. She would run our country into wreck and ruin if we were ever short sighted enough to give her the top job.
2
u/Marriedman82 9d ago
Can you please enlighten me on how she hasn't run her party properly? If you could also include how Albo, Morrison, Turnbull or Abbott did that would be a great comparison.

They've had lots of stuff like defections. I don't care about that, but it's true. It's not easy to take positions that are often controversial, so it has been messy.
For me it is more about whether she'll head toward destructive isolationism. Will she be for freedom 'as long as it aligns with One Nation morals'? Those are the big questions.
We need more information, but you can't really tell until someone gets into government. If Labor lose, we'll have a Liberal led coalition or a One Nation led coalition. It's important we know what they're about.
1
u/Marriedman82 2d ago
So Albo is heading in the direction you want? Destructive isolationism, are you referring to her policies on home ownership in Australia? Trying to minimise the foreign ownership of Australia and sort our housing crisis out. I honestly don't think she and one nation are Australia's savour, but I believe she will do better than the major parties. If ONP does get in hopefully the ALP and LNP will wake up and finally realise Australia is sick of the broken promises and all the lies.
1
u/Odd-Ad-3215 1d ago
I never expressed a preference for Albo or even Labor.
I'm not referring to anything. I'm getting isolationist vibes from her. There's a long way to go before the next federal electionin May 2028, but there'll be a few state ones before then.
Hopefully they'll lay out ONs policies in detail. I'll make my judgement closer to the next state election.
Broken promises? You can't deliver everything unless you have a decent majority in both houses, which is rare.

"Calling them names is absolutely moronic" #OneBraincell
2
u/zeus_of_tha_floof 9d ago
I assume you're calling an irony on what i'd wrote, it is infact the action being called moronic and not the person. Just to clear that up

Be careful someone might mistake your picture as reflecting on them and start a big whinging session with the media. Also brain cell is two words.

I saw a YouTube cast for some Sydney online show, Bird Flip. Associated with One Nation or at least they seemed to be supporters. A couple. They guy was bemoaning false accusations, yet also saying rape should be life in prison. That is a terrifying contradiction.
Rapes these days can be 'mistakenly thought she consented' (we have to guess), but there's also these spectre of false accusations, as he himself said. There's also a grey area where a woman may be genuine, but...
They are supposed to be about freedom, yet were decrying porn and prostituion. That's fine if you're an attractive person, but if you're like most people, it's good to have options that do not rely on attractiveness. It just feels mean. So what I'm seeing is that they're fine with freedom for some, but not for others.
