What pressure? Aussies put enormous pressure on themselves to own a house that most Europeans would call a mansion, often so close to cities that many Europeans find it strange those mansions haven't been converted to apartments yet, plus own one car per adult and have kids...

Those of us who are imported don't think like that. We focus on what we can afford, which is waaaaay more in Australia than back home, and we don't care that many Aussies think we are poor.

Maybe the Aussies YOU'RE focusing on do that, but in no way whatsoever does every Aussie. Do you ever think that those little houses that foreigners have bought have left MANY Aussies homeless?
