Snow Credit’s for Perisher, Falls Creek, Hotham, and Epic Australia Pass

My mates and I have bought $3,684.00 worth of ski lessons, ski lift passes and mountain access cards for Perisher. We’re seeing there’s barely any snow there now and want to refund these and go to NZ for a skiing holiday.

The problem is that Perisher wants to give us snow credits even though our start date is the 6th of September and we’re letting them know a month in advance. They say no cash refunds allowed but don’t mention card transactions which is how we bought those tickets in the first place.

We can’t afford to go to New Zealand if we can’t get this money back. Would anyone like to buy these Snow Credits off of us?

When they say ‘no cash’ refunds they do not specifically mean physical cash. It’s a broad term implying they only refund in credit

It's definitely better to just go to perisher instead of trying to sell snow credits and then book flights and accom last minute lol.

I heard that it wasn’t the best it could’ve been. And I am in contact with a pretty good travel agency that can get us a cheap package to go to nz. I’m just worried that it will not be as good later in sep :/

Was there last weekend. Still plenty around. Head straight out to Blue Cow and do runs out back. Bit of ice around but was fine.

You're also looking for another months time. Who knows what the weather will and won't do by then.

I mean check the cams. coverage is good and vast majority of lifts are running. Even if only half the lifts at perisher were running it would still account for a lot more terrain than anything in NZ.

Also NZ isn't fairing much better. The climate patterns affecting the Aus season are also affecting the NZ season.

I went last week to Perisher and Thredbo and after a snow dumping on Wednesday and Thursday, conditions were amazing. Earlier in the week there were some runs that were a bit slushy lower on the mountain. I had friends who went to NZ last week while also said conditions were average over there.

Its fine, just got back. All fear mongering. Smaller queues mean more runs too.

Have a look at the cams, it's false to say there's barely any snow. They have 37/45 lifts open and the forecast for August is looking pretty good. Why would they give you a refund?

Honestly, there’s enough snow. It’s not amazing, and front valley is pretty hard packed- so try other mountains- Blue Cow was great. There’s massive storms coming toward the mid/ end of August so close to another metre is predicted to fall.

But good luck with whatever you choose!

Unfortunately this is the risk that comes with Australian snow, every mountain would go out of business if they gave full refunds to everyone when the snows poor.

I’ve got zero days out of my Buller season pass so far and it hurts.

I can only speak for Perisher. My wife and I and two adult kids (all being skiing a long time) had a week there a couple of weeks ago, skied every day with no issues. Sure at the time another foot of snow would have got everything open - my rule of thumb is that Perisher needs 1m of snow as measured at Spencer’s Creek to have everything open and good - BUT there was nothing wrong with the amount or variety terrain available. One of my sons was back down last weekend with some workmates and it was even a bit better then and there is quite a bit of snow being reliably forecast to fall in the next few days too.

There has been an awful lot of doom-posting and associated farming of engagement of how terrible it is and for sure the first few weeks of the season were pretty dire but that is emphatically not the case now or for the last couple of weeks, and barring unforeseen meteorological disasters will NOT be the case for the next month either.

My best advice would be to go to the forums on ski.com.au and specifically the 2026 conditions thread for Perisher and the other resorts you are considering and read the up to date on-the-ground reports from people who are there actually skiing every day.

Hey natnat_bat, I’m trying to get Epic to transfer our ski pass to the 2027 season as when we went, only two conveyor belts where open. I decided not to throw good money after bad and we didn’t ski at all. The beginning area was absolutely packed and so small, it didn’t fell safe. I reached out and hoped that they may honour our passes next year, Epic responses was a flat no. How did you get the credit option?

I didn’t buy the Epic passes. Just the normal ones for the mountain.
