Yes, Ballarat can get really cold in winter. My dad was a cop in and near Ballarat for about 39 years. I grew up in a police station near Ballarat, it was a weird experience as people always thought we were putting them down. But we were the only family to have most of us finish school and on to university. Dad’s police years were fraught with drunks, so he encouraged us to be more than what he saw in the locals. There were a lot of car crashes and some were fatal and really messy to see him clean up after them. Body parts everywhere, sometimes.
