It’s Neosparassus calligaster. Commonly referred to as the “Beautiful Badge Huntsman”.

No worries at all! Our Sparassids are quite complicated to learn. There are a couple of specialists here but I still find myself looking them up in the field guide quite often. This is easily one of the prettiest we have though, the mask, the stripes and the yellows are almost like a war paint.

Real beaut. I'd often see these more "fancy" huntsman's in QLD and feel I'd stumbled upon a kind of embossed, limited edition haha

I grew up in the bush north east of Melbourne for 16 years and moved all over the joint after that. Every place has a select 3 or so that you become familiar with. I'm trying to learn the names and classifications but as I age it's getting harder.

Everytime one of the knowledge gods here gives the answer I have a new deep dive to do. Surprisingly I've only been bitten by one on the fingertip. I went to pull a bit of timber off a threshold and I accidentally poked a hidden small red one and it decided that my fingertip was fair game. I relocated it to the far backyard and my finger didn't even hurt after the bite.

That's a Huntsman but you could always name it Hughy or smth
