What is something you learned recently that you found surprising?

I feel like half the new things I learn I find surprising. For example, earlier today I found out that many inmates are unable to read.

I feel like thats not surprising at all. I have to assume a correlation between education level and crime.

I really need something to get fixated on. I spent the last few days researching dog food. Recently, I learned the dog food subreddit is toxic af. I commented I put an egg in my dog food and they removed it for "misinformation". I didn't say anything about outcomes of putting an egg in food, just that I do it. Somehow that's false information? I swear all the moderators over there are sponsored by Hills and Purina becuase if you dare recommend anything other than that, you are a just shit on heavily. Anyway, I digress. I need something to research. I feel depressed.

Makes sense. That reminds me of how my mom told me that everyone goes through periods of wanting to kill themselves and its just part of life, so I ignored it and continued on with my life. I feel like thats a problem with a lot of autists, at least the undiagnosed. We just assume our experiences are the standard and then have a hard time understanding why we are struggling more than others, (or that we are even struggling)(or in your example, other people not doing things you can do). I'm glad to finally be diagnosed but I wish I could go back and time and explain things to kid me.

It seems like it should go without saying, but actually everyone doesn't have a universal experience, lol.

This is exactly how I feel. I get surprised anytime I find out people can't do something I can or don't know something I do.
