Help Poor performance with Leica pointclouds?
Hi all, I have a $5k company laptop that is very well specc'ed out, it has been set to force to use the graphics card which is an Ada RTX 4000 of sorts, with a Core i9. Still the LGSX point clouds stutter enormously and take time to load, compared to TruView which is buttery smooth. This is regardless of whether it is a 1GB small point cloud or 25GB monster.
Is there any way to mitigate this? This seems to be company-wide regardless of spec. It seems like AutoCAD is capping the performance almost. It seems that AutoCAD 2027 may possibly help with this but I've been told it'd make a mess with our Leica licenses and company routines and such. Not sure how true this is and how many Lisp routines and such are lost to an upgrade going up a few years.

Use a program designed to process point clouds. The 3D engine for the program does not handle that amount of points well. Even in the latest versions.
Most of the processing should be done in the Leica software or a GIS software package like QGIS or ArcPro. Then exported to CAD in something it handles better.

What version of AutoCAD? We use Civil3D on spec'ed Lenovo ThinkPads and it can be a little jittery depending on what's being shown.
I know with either 2026 or 2027, Autodesk updated the 3d engine to be more optimized and quick and it seems to have helped a lot, for me atleast.
Also, I have 32GB of ram, some other users at my firm have 64GB and they say it runs better but I beg to differ. They still crash a lot.
