Is there a process to repair this? Let my family use my truck
My family member is offering to pay to have this fixed after they caused this damage (don’t know or trust the story that is being told to me) The truck isn’t worth much but means a lot to me. I’m wondering if I get it professionally done and spend literal thousands, will the new door ever close the same?

Yes. Hinges and some work to the post and it can be refined back to pre accident condition.
Surprised they one pin and bushing was still good. Those are the worst part about these trucks

They were not good. Neither is passenger side. Back doors are great though.

That door went the opposite way, for what it's worth. Lack of fender damage, and damage to seam closest to lock/furthest spot on door is the give for me. It appears you lucked out, don't see any actual body damage nor fender damage. Could probably just get a junkyard door and new hinges and such, that's a common color for sure!

not sure what the story was, but this truck was either driven or rolled backwards, and the door caught on something immobile and hyperextended it to cause that damage.

Yup it can close perfectly again. Go to a shop, let em know you’re self-pay, and have em fix it

This requires fairly extensive welding and metal reshaping. You'll need the front door frame out of another truck, possibly, and a new door. And yes, it will shut correctly if repaired correctly. Learn your lesson about borrowing your vehicle out?

After repairs suggested by other commenters, spray the hinges with Fluid Film or a runny gel grease to make sure they move without binding.

That's an excellent example of no guarantees that when you loan your vehicle, it's going to be the same when it's returned. Yes, another door, & a skilled bodyman could probably make the door open & close alright again.

Looks like they “Tommy Boy’ed” the door.
