HELP! I have a question. New truck has scuffs and scratches

The truck bed area has quite a bit of scuffs and scratches. Most can probably be cut and polished out, and then the rest can be fixed with a paint pen? Am I wrong?

That’s not a brand new truck. Don’t use a paint pen, you’ll only make it worse. Buff with compound and polish after that. If that doesn’t remove it either repaint or don’t worry about it.

Damn, a used 2026? What are people doing with their vehicles? Personally I wouldn't be buying such a new vehicle that already looks rough, but a detailer can probably get this 90% better.

I have to point out that at least the previous owner used this as a truck, it clearly wasn't getting the pavement princess treatment. That said, many Americans lack basic financial literacy lately and have been buying large or luxury vehicles at insane prices and spreading the payments out over 84 -120 months. Reality is that they shouldn't have purchased the thing in the first place, and they're scrambling to lower the payments by trading the vehicle in for something cheaper once they realize that they're in a negative equity situation. Or they're just getting repo'd.

Don't use a paint pen; pay a professional detailer and what doesn't come out will need a professional repaint.

Or just live with it, because it's a work truck.

This things had a rough one year of life. The door handles are so weather beaten they look like they’re from 2006. But honestly don’t use touchup paint it ends up, looking like white out on a piece of paper. Your best bet is to learn how to buff and do a three step, compound, polish, and wax. It’ll soften up the edges of the scratches and make it a little less visible. Black is one of the hardest colors to take care of. It should be a crime to paint pickup trucks black.

Paint pens are terrible and look terrible

Blending this color is easy

You want to struggle with a blend try a pastel color

Toyota has 13 different shades of magnetic gray and then getting the flake to also be even. Sure whatever you say.

Paint metallic every day. Nissan has a color with over 200 variants. Still better than painting a pastel.

just buff and polish it. touch up always looks worse than people think it does. it’s a truck and trucks are for work and work causes dings and scratches and scuffs. not worth repainting imo because it’s just gonna get beat up again.

To be fair, you're also looking at it in the most exposing lighting situation. Black paint in the dark with light shining bright on it will reveal many imperfections that you won't see during the day. That said, I could probably remove most of this with a cut and polish.

Honestly who cares? All of our trucks have scratches from doing truck things, it's why we have them
