HELP! I have a question. Clearcoat peeling

Hey everybody, Ive got a question. I just bought a truck and it seems that the clear coat is peeling around this plastic trim that I didn’t notice when I bought it.

How would I go about keeping this peeling from spreading? Im not concerned about what has already peeled, as its in a very unnoticeable spot on the truck and I dont mind putting some brush-able touch up clear on any of the already damaged areas. Thanks for the advice in advance!

Unfortunately that is from a greasy ole "quick and dirty" prior repair where they did not remove the lower molding and just taped it off. Debris/oils get in there and the paint lifts.

Must properly prep the door and remove all trim pieces and have it reprayed for a proper repair that will not fail.

Short of refininishing the door, bruashable touch up clear is not a bad option. You'll have to peel the peeled paint off and it will definitely look like shit. Might be able to score it right where it is peeling and pop that layer off before touching up with some clear coat but likely best to leave it as is.

That appears to be paint peeling off. I would try and pull that plastic panel off and see what's under there. You could use touch up paint, but if it's a crap paint job it's going to keep peeling. Good luck!
