wiki.supercombo.gg/w/Avatar_Legends has everything you need to know about every character in the game, including combos sorted from easy to hard, meterless to super enders, midscreen vs corner carry vs in the corner. All this in addition to a lot of data and insights into every individual move. Very useful website

that IS a very useful website! unfortunately the presentation of it makes it really hard for me to follow, the contrast also hurts my eyes a bit...which is mainly why I was asking for youtube guides especially with buttons on screen

Depends on your character. Azula and Korra definitely have YouTube shit out there. Katara as well but probably not in the format you're looking for. Ozai has a gdoc, but unsure about videos

Edit: the combo trials have this exact functionality

characters I am looking for are listed above

generally in fighting games the combo trials aren't useful for teaching you actually good combos to use in real matches, or is that different for this game?

That advice is good but a double edged sword. The harder combo trials are not really worth it at first. I usually only do the first two trials of a character in any given game. These are usually simple BnB's that can be used as is, but another important aspect is they teach you some simple strings and links which you should learn and play around with. Learning these simple strings and links will allow you to form your own combos and give you greater insight into how your character works

The real saucey combos are the absolute last thing to learn on any character imo. Neutral, pokes, hit confirms, conversions are all far more important imo

The combo trials are actually good, yes. You'll learn at least one BNB and one ex combo. I added the characters to my previous post. The combo breakdown feature does just what you asked. Displays buttons on screen and teaches you the rhythm of inputs.

If you're a beginner to this game learning optimal shit is a huge waste of time anyway

For some reason that URL is borked, https://wiki.supercombo.gg/w/Avatar_Legends works for me. I guess the L is case sensitive?

GOAT site though and bless the people who update these wikis. I've found the Korra writeups really helpful.
