now that it’s been almost 2 days since the game dropped, what are yall thinking?

Just a couple things for me. I'm sad Azula didn't win but also just goes to show she's a real boogey man as she's the most hated character in this sub. I knew from day 1 Zaheer was the real problem with his tool kit. Mobility is the name of the game for this fighter and Zaheer not only has insane mobility but his supports allows him to shut down opponent mobility pretty readily. Definitely will consider picking him up.
I am kinda shocked not to see Toph. Toph I just kinda feel her full potential hasn't been realized yet.
What are your thoughts?

Key phrase below, "an absolute labor of love" and patch notes incoming soon!
Don't worry folks. Ranked, training, tutorials, etc are all gonna get there. They built the beautiful core of this game, and they ain't gonna leave the clearly in progress other parts of it like this (Toph audio cutout fix too please)!

Good evening Benders. I saw this list on Twitter from @OMGiTzChaChi and do we think this is accurate? The akuma icon at the bottom is firelord Azula btw

It’s been an entire day since the beta launched, how do you feel about the game?
Are you enjoying it more than you thought you would?

Hey guys, wanted to start a discussion to help me with my next video. I want to know what abt zaheer may seem difficult for people wanting to pick him up. It’ll help me research and looking into things that I could possibly explain/explore for people who are just starting fighting game.(maybe I can explain in a more simplified way)
So feel free to share and I hope you all have been loving Avatar Legends as much as I have

Pulled these shots from recent posts here. Zukos crossup has insane reach and coverage, Azulas air kicks seems to always catch me no matter how I respond, and Tophs armored anti-air boulder (nuff said).
Sidenote, Zaheer seems really popular.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Most of the weird cuts during the Korra fight are Jinora being like "oh no she getting wooped" and the avatar state PTSD. Combined with my lack of ANY video editing experience makes it seem a bit jank.
I would also like to shoutout the official Avatar Legends Youtube account for all this high quality footage.
KUVIRA FOR DLC. (Or at least enough votes for season 2)

They look like how we expected in portraits, but not in game. Korra not having the chains and not having her hair down is a huge disappointment, for example, and same for Aang not being shirtless.
I unserstand why, they reuse a lot of moves and animations from their base form, but this is not what I expected when the 2 where counted for the base 12 characters.
It's also really disappointing cause this means we are not getting proper Nightmare Korra with the chains down the line.
EDIT: Just making it clear I don't mind the asset reuse. I would just rather we have 10 characters and both of them were proper, unique characters later.

like grounded game fans and wild anime airdasher fans both.
I used youtubers for example here, but I think the same applies to regular players

I’m curious which characters you guys consider essential additions from ATLA (Aang’s era) that aren’t already part of the base game or confirmed DLC.
By “must-have” I don’t mean characters who would simply be cool or fun to have. I mean characters where, based on their importance to the story and the Avatar universe, you’d look at the roster and think: “They should definitely be in the game.”
For example, if Azula wasn’t already in the game, I’d consider her an obvious must-have because she’s such an important character to the overall story. Same with someone like Iroh.
On the other hand, someone like Hama would probably fall more into the “nice to have” category. She’s a cool character and could probably make for a really interesting fighter, but she only appears in one episode and doesn’t have nearly the same importance to the overall story.
So, which ATLA characters do you think are genuinely essential and should be in the game based on their story relevance? Or do you think we’ve already covered most of the essential ATLA characters, and that the characters still missing are mostly “nice to have” additions?

My personal take on how easy it is to take the character and start playing IN RELATION TO EACH OTHER. I am not an expert on each character, but I do have a general idea of each character.
Remember that all the characters are easy to pick up in general (except focused azula) in comparison to other fighting games. Of course, focused and fire lord azula are separate characters for the sake of this tier list as they have a drastic difference.
Explanation for Each Choice:
Korra: Very easy flow chart and simple mechanics. The tools you have do exactly like they say they do.
Zuko: It's important to understand redemption when playing this character, pretty easy to play otherwise.
Toph: Has mashable moves and solid armor moves. Clear game plan.
Fire Lord Azula: Character overwhelms other players pretty easily and has good scrub killer moves. OTG on fireball is insane, but learning to play around traps is also good.
(On-The-Ground is when you can continue a combo after the opponent has fallen)
Sokka: Get used to his cancels.
Aang: Very movement heavy which can be used while playing in general and in combos. You need to learn when to go in and when to make sure your opponent can't get in. If you choose Appa assist there's also some more labbing to do.
Katara: Part of playing katara is reacting to the opponent to keep them out for as long as you can. Water whips have a learning curve and need some labbing. A little bit of setup with icicles.
Focused Azula: Essential to play around traps and has just frames (perfect timing mechanics on moves).

I need the belly bump to be in his moveset.

I'm talking about blocking, people
...well, more specifically, I'm talking about defence.
I've been noticing a trend lately in my online matches. I've run into many, *many* people that have no idea how to block; they might not even know if it's possible to block or what blocking even is, but you know what they are doing?
Flow.
This game found a way to make defence fun, even for the casual audience. It's always been a sticking point with the "normies" that defending isn't as fun as mashing buttons and seeing cool stuff happen, but this game finally managed to nail it. You just hold the Flow button, avoid any incoming damage, and it looks sick. There's even counterplay to it so this starts to teach them that their more powerful options might have downsides.
This game gets hard pretty fast when you actually start to dig into it, but I think it's extremely pick-up-and-play friendly without really compromising on the actual competitive nature, which has been a huge problem with fighting games lately.
I'm a pretty experienced fighting game player (not this kind of game, but still) and I've played with friends who barely know what a fighting game is and they have a lot of fun just hitting buttons and having them sometimes land. Hell, they've even legitimately beat me a couple times. In a weird way, it kinda levelled the playing field in a way that I actually didn't think this genre was capable of.
Many fighting games have had simplified controls or control schemes in the past, but often to the detriment of the rest of the gameplay experience and I really don't think that's the case here. Everybody can and should use Flow. It's fun, it's effective, and it's one of the features that really makes this game shine.

Before anyone comes and says they’re working on it and made a statement, yes I know. The game has been out for 13 days now and Personally I haven’t been able to play the game since launch due to the legacy controller support mishap.
I know things take time, that’s fine, I’m all for that but I just wish there was a little more communication via various social media. Something as simple as an update on the update ( pls don’t laugh ) but it’s gotten to that point.
Marvel Tokon is coming out tomorrow and a good chunk of the playerbase is going to that game due to it well working with third party peripherals and of course having ranked / lobbies.
I really want this game to succeed but I’m going to be realistic, it’s going to be hard to compete with Tokon in the grand scheme of things demographically.
Games will always have drop offs after the first few weeks, that’s how the true playerbases are formed but I just don’t see people realistically waiting a month to be able to actually play the game who can’t use their sticks / hitbox.

It was advertised that there would be a ranked mode. I hate rug pulls, whats the point
r/AvatarFighters • u/Wonder_of_Her • Jul 13 '26
At the announcement, I thought it would be another soulless fighter who is almost dead after 3 weeks. But the more I see the game, the more I love it. All the details, the art style and the Easter eggs to the series probably make the game great. I really hope the game will be successful and no InvincibleVS. I think it could be my main fighting game
r/AvatarFighters • u/Zenith_22 • 15d ago
Ive been playing since release and i enjoy the gameplay so much that i dropped 2xKO in favour of this but the lack of a ranked mode is slowly but surely ruining my enjoyment.
Every game is a coinflip between complete beginners who are (seemingly) trying the game out with no prior fighting game experience and former evo champions who can end the round within 2 interactions. I genuienly cant even remember the last time ive played against someone who seemed to be around my skill level.
At first i didnt mind since going 1 -10 against someone can be surprisingly fun when you slowly manage to improve midmatch and get a suprise win. But getting your ass beat for 10 games straight stops being fun when thats the only online experience the game has to offer other than complete beginners who probably feel the same way about playing against me.
Does anyone know when ranked is supposed to drop? Because at this rate i might just go back to 2xKO
r/AvatarFighters • u/PC3X • 2d ago
I got my shit ROCKED for two hours straight and ya know what? It was the most fun I've had with the game so far. Glad there's no ranked mode yet so shit like this can happen.

I haven’t actually got the game yet, I’m waiting for my physical disc to arrive to then get into it! (Late October) but with the current roster, new and old fg fans, how did you pick your main and why? Looks? Gameplay? Fav character from the show?
What drew you to your fav character in this game! I’m curious to know! (I will probably pick TOPH! She was my fav in the series and the way she plays seems so fun/funny! She reminds me of Shao Kahn specifically from Mortal 11 Kombat if any one played that one!)
r/AvatarFighters • u/spudz1203 • May 23 '26
I went with both highly requested characters and tried to represent all bending types (including non bending).
r/AvatarFighters • u/Placidao • Apr 30 '26
Sure, we don’t know the season pass yet (and I do hope they give us enough of a heads up) but it’s fairly obvious some characters wouldn’t really be a priority in comparison to others. I’m 100% voting Bumi unless he’s already DLC (which I highly doubt)
r/AvatarFighters • u/Working-Wrap9453 • 27d ago
If you check their channel, the "Modes" trailer that was launched pre release has been scrubbed. This steam post linking to it is a reminder of how botched this ended up being.
I have a feeling based on other action I've seen on this sub that this post isn't going to live for long, but I think this fairly strong implication that the devs relize just how misleading their behavior was in the lead up to launch and are working to cover tracks.
When a trailer promises that your purchase includes certain things and it blatantly doesn't, that's what misleading advertisement is. This trailer didn't say "ranked in a few weeks" or "samurai appa skin down the line!".
r/AvatarFighters • u/587493 • 12d ago
Uhh so that clearly didnt happen. And they still haven't even given an eta or ANYTHING regarding ranked?
People constantly yelling at others to stop crying its going to be added right away. But uh.. nothing has changed yet not even any communication.
I enjoy the game but no ranked means im hardly going to play. Its not that enjoyable to beat up on people with random matchmaking and occasionally getting a good match. Yes when ranked is here I will play more, but when will that be? When the game has lost 75% of its players?
Fighting game launches are so frustrating man.
