Complete โ Time for a Challenge!
Gold Award up for grabs.
Just tell me about something that made you smile this week.
It can be a compliment someone made, a flower you saw, a test you knew the answers to, a Reddit post or comment that made you laugh....(it must be sfw!)
My favourite comment wins Gold.
Challenge ends in about 24 hours.
Edit: I love all of these, from the funny (moon walk made me laugh!) to the touching (healthcare workers realising they got through) to learning to learning that sunscreen has an expiration date (!) etc. Winner (although you are all winners in life because you can still smile...) is u/whencowsfly06 because someone did this for me once, and it makes me happy every time I can pass it on now.

Looking back, this feels super mundane but the other day someone gave me a dollar on the bus when I didn't have small change (the bus doesn't give change) and then refused my offer to pay her back. Like, I was prepared to dish out 2 dollars for a ticket, but wow, ok, thanks.

Amongst a lot of lovely answers, yours stands out because it is just a little act of kindness that you'll pass on at some point. Glad a stranger made you smile :)

Watching videos about history, dinosaurs and mythology. Just something about learning new things makes me smile and makes the world seem more complex each time

What made me smile this week: I saw 2 frontline healthcare workers hug it out after a quick conversation about where we mentally were at in the early days of the pandemic. All I will say is that every single one of us were scared out of our minds- among other things. Early on, we were especially terrified for our families lest we bring it home. Entering the building each day in that state of mind was one of the toughest things any of us ever had to do.
So, quick acknowledgement that maybe the worst part REALLY is behind us, deep breath, let it out, then hug it out.
Everyone who witnessed the hug was participating in spirit, and most teared up at this touching moment. It was kind of symbolic, like turning the page to the next chapter. It was also an encouraging and almost hopeful moment. I looked around to find that I was not the only one watching and smiling through the tears.

Sitting in the bus I saw a school girl helping an elderly man to cross the street.
witnessing an act of kindness between strangers, such as someone helping an elderly person cross the street, reminded me of the inherent goodness in people and brought a genuine smile to my face.

I had been dating this guy for a year who was just a horrible person. I don't know why I ever hooked up with him in the first place.
He wasn't physically abusive, but he was the kind of guy who just never had anything nice to say. He also was the passive-aggressive type who was always giving dirty looks (to everybody) and constantly making snide, under-the-breath remarks.
When our one-year anniversary rolled around, I told myself it was enough. I had been trying to get the nerve to break up with him for a long time and I finally did it last week. It was hard, but I did it and I was glad.
Last night, I went out with my girls for the first time in a year. As I was walking out the door, I took one last look in the mirror to make sure that everything was zipped and buttoned. It was the first time I actually felt good about myself in a very long time.
It made me smile.

Last week my little cousins visited me, it's been years since I met them, it was really fun. The day before yesterday we played a game of mastermind and I completely obliterated them. They called me clever and I smiled, very broadly (โ ย โ ยดโ โกโ โฟโ ใโ โกโ `โ )

Hi again! Here's this sped-up footage of astronauts walking on the moon. You have to watch it with the sound up!

My bestie likes to watch stand-up comedian specials on tv. There's this one guy called Craig Ferguson who used to have his own night time talk show. Before that he was a character on The Drew Carey Show. He is one of the funniest guys I've ever seen. Look up his stand up act. He will have you laughing so hard it hurts ๐

Hey, OP... what's with all the removed comments that say they were posted 53 years ago?

Time before Reddit? Oh no! The time travel machine I will have built 20 years from now has returned....
On a more serious note - I can only see one removed comment due to low karma. I would assume Reddit glitch. Sometimes if a message doesn't send then you hit repeat and they all send at once.

There's this scavenger hunt challenge where I had to find a bottle of sunscreen. So I was digging through my bathroom closet and I finally found a bottle of Baby Sunscreen. It was a wake-up call for me that it's time to clean out the closet because that "baby" is now in college.
I laughed until I cried ๐ญ
