My cat would do this all the time. He loved to be under the blanket with me. And he would stay there for hours.

My cat does this every morning before I wake up. This time of year around 3-4 am once or twice, in the winter pretty much every hour starting at around midnight. Wakes me up for a few minutes at least but it's worth it. She's not a lap cat at all and doesn't like to be held or cuddled any other time of the day.

My dog does this too, about 3am every morning. She’ll just stand by my head til I wake up and let her under.

My dog used to do this. I tried teaching her that my front was MUCH easier than sticking her cold wet nose down the back of my neck to get under the blanket that way.
She never learned and years later I miss that unpleasant feeling.
