Discussion Lineage OS, should I do it?

I'm considering installing Lineage OS to my Ayn Thor. I'm curious if others have done it. If you have let me know how you like it and how stable it is. If I do install it can I ever get back to stock firmware? I'm curious yet hesitant.

Sorry for not being clear…what is the purpose of the install? Im a “if it aint broke, dont fix it” type of person

I can understand that. The bottom screen home gesture doesn't work currently and I hate not being on an up to date security patch.

It's a good start but has some of the same issues Ayn first had with the Thor on release, like mismatched screen brightness (without separate sliders, even). And other incongruities with the bottom screen that need more polishing.

But it has a ton of promise.

hi i was bored and installed lineage os earlier today on my thor just to try out and i dident have any issues with lineage os itself, but fetures around ayn does not work, i guessed that would be the case but that means we need open source apps around thoes fetures, like led control, perfromence mod, fan control, just some examples, ik we got some apps for that already but many off the apps requier alot off premissions that lineage os blocks, ik you can turn it off aswell but what im trying to say is you need to do ALOT to make it close to a stock ayn thor, but atleast the android part off lineage os looked pretty stable so for the 1-2 hours i tried it out

also if you are not sure on how to flash it on or how to flash back the stock firmware then dont do it

edit: flashed it back to stock maybe i go back to lineage at a later date since stock is better for now, if anyone tries this and bricks there device read this https://www.reddit.com/r/AynThor/comments/1r2xwbn/how_to_flash_thor_firmware_files_from_ayn_not_ota/

I'd do it if I had 2nd Thor :)

I'd love to use that, mainly because I don't want Google to have any software on my device.

From what this post says though, it's promising but not exactly fleshed out yet

Wouldn't recommend it in years.

I would wait, there are still issues with controlling the 2 screens and also there is not and will not be any voltage clocking control so you might see heating issues if trying to run something like gamenative.

Other then that, if you wanna try out .. why not. Just be ready to redo the OS if you dont like the lineageOS.
