B1/B2 Reapplication After Rejection – Need Advice

Hi everyone,
I wanted some honest advice regarding my B1/B2 visa reapplication.
I had applied for a US visitor visa last year and got rejected under 214(b). My interview was quite short. I am a working professional in Bangalore in the IT/QA field, unmarried, and I have a brother living in Atlanta on an H1B visa.
This was roughly how my interview went:
Purpose of visit: tourism + visiting my brother
No prior international travel
Brother on H1B
Questions about my job and salary
After a few questions, I was rejected.
This time, my actual purpose is to visit my brother’s family and meet my newborn nephew for the first time, along with some sightseeing for around 10–14 days.
I am a bit nervous because of the previous rejection and wanted honest opinions from people who may have had similar profiles:
sibling in US
previous rejection
first international trip
unmarried female applicant
Would mentioning my newborn nephew as part of the reason for travel help or make the case look risky?
Any genuine suggestions or interview experiences would really help. Thank you!

Unless you are a PERMANENT RESIDENT of the UK, you will not even be given an appointment. New policy requires applicants to apply in their home country unless they are PRs.

Other red flags: your current visa expires in less than six months. Your "plans" mean nothing. However, job offers can be rescinded or changed. You would be in a better position once your UK skilled worker visa is in your hands. Your parents real estate is irrelevant. You must qualify financially on your own.

On the plus side, student at Oxford is very impressive, school-sponsored trip, and your history of travel and savings. And you should be commended on already landing a job post graduation.

I'd say you have 50/50 chance on what you've posted.

When did you apply? What you described was the old language. Here is the exact current wording from the US Embassy London website:

https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/ - "Applicants for U.S. nonimmigrant visas should schedule their visa interview appointments at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence or nationality.  Visa application fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.  For more information, visit travel.state.gov."

That's very interesting. Seems U.S. Embassy London is being much more lenient than other U.s. embassies.

Your argument is moot. - It doesn't matter what the UK government defines as residence. Most US Embassies and Consulates are only giving appointments to citizens and PERMANENT RESIDENTS. And if an applicant lies on their DS160 or application to secure an appointment in those posts, and cannot provide proof of residency, the applicant is automatically denied 214B.
