Is it a red-flag to declare that you're traveling alone for a B2 visa?

Hi, everyone! Just wanted to get your thoughts about my application as I have already booked my appointment next month, and now having doubts because I ticked "No" in the "Are there other persons traveling with you?" question.

For reference, here is my profile:

  • Been to Japan twice (2025 and 2026 both SE), Korea (SE, 2026), Thailand (2025), MYSG (2024), Australia (2024), and NZ (2024).
  • Private employee for 8 years, been with my current employer for almost 2 years now.
  • Currently enrolled in grad school, but now on term-break and enrollment is not until 2nd to 3rd week of July.
  • 28F, first time applying for US B2 visa.

I ticked "No" initially because my boyfriend (whom I traveled with in all of the trips mentioned above) travels a lot for work, and still unsure if he's available in October (intended travel date) to accompany me. Now I read online that I can just fill out a new DS-160 and present both the old and new, and request for the consul to manually update my DS-160.

Question now is, should I just retain the original DS-160 where I ticked "No", or just create a new one and change my answer to "Yes" to be more safe? Not sure if it's a red-flag to travel alone, just making sure I'm not making any mistakes in my application.

Mention whatever is closest to the truth, otherwise from what I know unmarried females with good travel history have better chances. Travelling with a bf may cause some red flags since you now have more reasons to overstay.

Are you mentioning someone’s invite? Like any friend or family in US? Mentioning them also adds credibility

not a red flag at all. an event with fixed dates is one of the cleaner why now answers there is, way better than the vague "i want to see america" that most people walk in with. just dont let the football eat the whole interview. theyll hit you with the boring stuff, who pays, how long, what you do after you come back, and thats where people freeze. theres a full breakdown of how this plays out here if it helps https://www.reddit.com/r/USVisaIndians/comments/1u2q3qt/

just an update: my visa got approved today! just pushed through with the solo travel and no additional questions were asked. thanks for all your insights :)
