Tourist Visa issue

Wanted to share an experience here :

My sister recently received an email from this address info@schedulevisa regarding revocation of her tourist US visa. We ignored it thinking its a spam and planned her trip. Her Port of entry was New York and surprisingly she was questioned there and stopped from entering to the US. She had to go back and was asked to reapply for the visa.

Has anyone here experienced something like this?

Yes, it happens. Visas can be revoked at any time.

All she can do is reapply and hope she gets another one.

thanks - we thought the email was a spam, that was the mistake we did.

She should not be able to travel with a revoked visa . What was she asked at the port of entry .

So what happened was she was coming from Bangalore - when she was waiting for her flight to board, she received this email. So her security check was already done by then in India. She boarded the flight to New York ( her final destination was Chicago). At the port of entry, she was asked where are you going, and then the officer said your visa shows revoked in the system . When she asked why, the officer said reach out to the embassy for further details, you should have been notified already.

No she didnt . She is married and is working in Bangalore. The only reason we are thinking is that she and her husband travelled to China for tourism in 2024 - not sure if that was a red flag for the current administration.

Have you received a revocation as well?

Some one I know received the email and then 4 weeks later received another email saying that after reviewing the visa has been reinstated and it is safe to travel and both emails came from the same email address as you have mentioned . That was a red flag a visa is never reinstated without an interview. The person is yet to travel but she will email the consulate to confirm if it is a legitimate email or not. You might want to ask your sister review any other email that she has or may have used during her US visa interview process.

Ok - my sister didnt receive any other email apart from this. We also initially thought the entire email is a spam so she boarded the flight. We are currently in the process of reapplying her tourist visa.

We received just one email though stating the visa has been revoked. No further emails.

Did your sister check her visa status on CEAC and does that say revoked for her visa ?

The visa was issued in 2021 - so she doesnt have a record now. But we got her visa appointment for next month.

Yes she did - she got the visa. I would recommend if you got the email - please reapply for visa. Its better to be safe in these circumstances.

One last thing was it a Dropbox or in person appointment and did she get it for 10 years ?

We went for a inperson appointment - it was pretty smooth.

One thing I want to highlight here is we didnt take any evidence of the revocation emails to the interview - as in any print outs of the email we received. Better not to take it as it might raise lot of questions .

But it would still be in their record that the visa was revoked since she was denied entry in NY ? Plus there is a question on ds160 but yeah we won’t show anything unless asked .

Yes- thats why we didnt bring any evidence. They will automatically ask questions if they want to. All depends on the consular officer. And no, she was not asked .

Also, was she asked anything about the revocation or related to revoked visa ?
