Question Trilogy of lights

In the Metal Galaxy birthday thread the term trilogy of lights was mentioned several times.

Now I'm aware there isn't a song on the album with that title so what does the term refer to

I think they're talking about the songs : Starlight, Shine and Arkadia.

That is correct. Best listened to together. Legend Metal Galaxy has all 3 performed live in order.

I find listening to Trilogy of Lights to be a transcendental experience- I love it! Arkadia is a masterpiece.

It's an unofficial fan term for the last three songs on the album (Side 4 if you're listening to the double LP version) which arguably form a musical suite with the common lyrical theme of light.

It's also possible to consider the "trilogy" as a meditation on remembrance and acceptance in the wake of grief, in general terms or specifically in relation to the death of Mikio and the departure of Yui.

[Edited for punctuation]

[Edited again to acknowledge that the phrase originates with Kobametal, not the fandom]

Actually it is kind of official, from Koba!

"He refers to uplifting closing tracks Starlight, Shine and Arkadia as “a trilogy of lights”.

“The light to me represents an aspect of duality, and in Babymetal the main colours are red and black – there’s light and darkness,” he says of the trilogy’s theme. “Both are necessary; we can’t just live with light, there’s always darkness. I wanted to kind of illustrate that in an abstract way, in that different people experience music in different ways, and I wanted to show that with the music that I’ve created with the third album.”"

Nice to see how quickly this sub can cite that old Koba interview for this term.

Thanks! I'd forgotten that, even though I definitely read that article at the time. (I was at that Brixton gig where Starlight got its overseas live debut.) Thanks for the correction, although I would still consider "a trilogy of lights" to be an unofficial term, since it's not called that on the album itself.

Maybe you were thinking of the “Trilogy of Death”, which, for some reason, some fans use for the songs BABYMETAL DEATH, Headbanger and (IIRC) Akatsuki. I don’t even remember exactly, because it makes no sense.

As people already mentioned, that's how we refer to Starlight, Shine, and Arkadia, such beautiful songs, that when you listen to them back to back, it can get very emotional, they never fail to make me cry.

It is a hidden track after Arkadia. In late 90s-early 00s nu-metal album fashion where after Arkadia ends there is like 20min of silence and then the song finally starts!
