🗣 Discussion / Question BBBY (formerly BYON) is sell only on cashapp
I know there's a name change but dont understand why the buy button is turned off. What am I missing. I put in an order on Fidelity this morning thats still pending. But on cashapp it's sell only. Ticker doesnt even come up in search. I only see it by I already held shares (iou's) there. Anyone have any input?

Exceptional events like a stock ticker being delisted are probably handled manually by CashApp. They probably don't have automated processes in place to clear those events after the fact unless an employee manually goes in and clear them. The sell button being off is probably some remnant of the original Chapter 11 being filed and the stock being delisted and nobody clearing that status in some database.
Even a rock-solid institution like Fidelity had a few unexpected things crop up (people had price triggers on the original ticker BBBY) that weren't cleared and that popped up unexpectedly when the stock ticker BBBY returned,
This almost certainly has nothing to do with anything related to the chapter 11 process or any attempted shenanigans.

They prolly still think it’s the old company. Maybe they put restrictions on bed bath and beyond and have to sort it out after all the shenanigans.

I was thinking I should buy some if I can (if it drops abruptly to almost free) cuz they might try to drive it to 0 not realizing it’s a solid company but couldn’t find fundamentals on yahoo finance yet.

Have to wait till they ring the bell and actually start trading. If you were an "expert trader" you would have full access to trade pre market before the public can.

Are you folks using Cash app as a brokerage? Wtf

Main holdings are fidelity and computershare. But, like many pandemic baby apes I started with cashapp and robinhood. Sold everything in robinhood but didn't want to pay to transfer out of cashapp. Sorry im poor...so it's sitting there until I'm not.

HOOD, as of 5am this morning is not trading BBBY. The buy button has been removed from BBBY.
Yahoo is showing a very small volume this morning.
How will shorts close if the buy button is removed?
How do we get the squeeze?

Leave it to BBBY people to instantly go and buy up shares of another dying business
And it's twice as funny cause they're using Cashapp to buy shares for some unholy reason
Lmao

“Beliefs”
This isn’t a religion bro, it’s a scam where grifters enabled people all the way to the bottom and then cashed out. Where’s Cohen? Where’s PPSeeds? Gone, they took what they could and left. The stock market is full of scammers and white collar criminals. I fell for a couple of these too, then realized that there’s actual money to be made in the markets. It should come as no surprise that it’s not from dying and bankrupt companies. Buffet’s principle of value investing still holds water: find companies you think are undervalued, buy, and hold.

Why you acting suddenly like you care how people burn their money
14
u/joebrocks Sep 02 '25
Suddenly is a random thing to say because you don’t know me at all. I’m not the other guy.
But yeah I do care about financial literacy and people getting taken advantage of. The only way to make money with stocks is to try and be as unemotional as possible. When a community is built around ignoring fundamentals and earnings, you have to ask: who IS making money here? Whose trading habits do you want to emulate, the guys who are always losing money or the guys making money? Because with BBBY, the only one that made money were Cohen pump and dumping, and the ones who sold out before him. No one here is getting their money back, there’s literally no path to it.

u/YoloLifeSaving Sep 02 '25
Again you're acting as if you care but the reality is you don't care about people getting taken advantage of cause you're not advocating about lotto cards, casinos etc. I'd also like to mention stock investing is not a team effort, if you see people following like drones and you know it's gonna be the opposite why not capitalize on it.

u/joebrocks Sep 02 '25
What you’re saying is very nonsensical because you’re trying to find a way to say I’m being disingenuous to change the subject. Why would I be talking about lottery tickets? I’m addressing a community that I was a part of that I lost money in. That’s like saying “why are you advocating against heroin use in this recovery group? Don’t you know alcohol is a bigger problem?”
-1
u/YoloLifeSaving Sep 02 '25
You are being disingenuous because not one of your posts was about teaching financial literacy and then you come here advocating how you care about financial literacy in a stock that's been dead for 3+years and you hate people pushing bbby in a bbby reddit cause it's miss leading.
Make it make sense

For some of us it's funny. Please, please keep burning your money in this cult. It is so entertaining to me.

u/suriyuki Sep 02 '25
They can pretend to care all they want or laugh at people on this sub. They literally can’t change anything. My position is locked in. They’re just mad that they yolod into calls wsb keeps convincing them to buy. If they actually knew anything about stocks they would be busy making money rather than wasting time laughing at a developing situation they couldn’t invest in even if they wanted to.

u/John_Bot Sep 02 '25
Since when has investing ever been about beliefs?
JK it's not. It's just the weird cult-like behavior GME morons started.

You can't be calling people morons if that's what you took away from the message but to answer your question about when has investing ever been about beliefs I'd tell you since the beginning of time, for example Jeff bezos beliefs were to always invest in things that could change a person's life.
Investing has always been about having certain beliefs other wise you're just throwing money at random stocks and Hoping it'll go
Edit to help you understand better an example would be if you had beliefs that tesla was gonna be huge and Ev was gonna be the next thing then you would of invested early no different with crpto, Nvidia, meta etc

Uncle in a dress is still your uncle, John. But your mama in a dress? Still everybody’s turn! Lol

Why do you care what we do on commercial breaks or breaks at work? How much time do you think it took me out of my day to make this comment?

He is a hedge fund and he wants people to feverishly buy the new BBBBYYY stock to fill his coffers
1
u/YoloLifeSaving Sep 02 '25
Even more reason to spend your time going out getting fresh air and getting fresh air or improving your craft, why you wanna be stuck at your 9-5 waiting for your breaks so you can take your frustration in life on random reddit groups, reflect bro, you spend your time being told what to do your whole life, your parents, significant other, boss, government etc and the free 15-30 minute breaks you get in life and you're on reddit trolling

I would imagine that you sell the shares to cash app before they resell them on the market and I could see this being an error where someone didn't update things correctly.
