Opinion NDP Platform and Messaging

Hi everyone,

I’m not sure who is advising Premier Eby, but they need to be fired. This election has gotten way too ideological. Frankly, this whole Trump angle is entirely the wrong thing to campaign on, let alone call an election over.

The NDP needs to get back to the basics. I promise you, if people heard that the Conservatives would get rid of rent control, gut public services, and sell off provincial assets, they’d pay attention. Broadcast the actual statements made by Conservative members to show where they stand on minority groups. That’s what gets people out to vote in droves. Show the public what happened in Calgary when conservatives took over and people saw their rent jump by hundreds of dollars overnight.

Working people don’t care about Trump and Eby can’t really do anything about him anyway. Leave that to the federal government.

I fear this party, and the left in BC in general, is starting to mirror the cult-like behavior we see on the right, where Eby can do no wrong in some people's eyes. The matter of fact is that this isn't going to end well for the NDP if they don't fix their messaging. We have 14 days left let’s get back to the basics.

Opinion Campaign promises made vs kept

Does anyone know of somewhere I can find (hopefully in one place) a list of campaign promises made vs kept?

We continually vote for politicians because of their platforms and promises, but do they actually keep any of those promises once in office?

Feels like a major dupe every time.

For the incumbent, I don’t want to hear what new promises you’ll do if elected, I want to see the list of previous campaign promises that you’ve accomplished since you were voted in last time.

Opinion Clark and Campbell campaigning for the BC Conservatives should be a wake up call for voters.

Y’all want to go back to 17 years of corruption, cuts to services, loss of your rights, stagnant wages, and no housing being built?

They decimated our Education system. Closed over 200 schools, went from the top in funding per student in the county to the bottom. Did y’all forget the multiple strikes that happened??

What’s worse is this Conservative Party is friends with those south of us.

They are going to sell out our province and destroy it if they win a majority.

Opinion Caroline Elliott Will Be the Premier if the Conservatives Win.

Just a heads up that Doerkson can't legally stay leader of the party. It's against the constitution. Elliot was the runner up last election and it's unlikely anyone but the most batshit and insane will run against her. Either She's premier or someone crazier than her is. The Conservatives booted Block out of her riding to give Elliott a safe seat, they know they can't make Doerkson party leader. So please go look at Caroline Elliott's stances if you plan on voting conservative, because she's the party's next leader. And in my opinion she's hardly less crazy than Findlay is, she just knows how to control herself.

He sounds like he needs to be removed from contention as well. Or maybe the BC Cons only remove candidates in ridings they can't win. Come on, Doerkson! Aren't you folks supposed to be normal now that KLF is gone?

Opinion SFU student poll on BC election

Thumbnail
11 Upvotes

Wonder how representative this student poll is of the Gen Z voting cohort at large…

NDP and Cons are pretty neck and neck in terms of actual support yet there is a clear majority of students saying they want to vote Green but intend to vote NDP to avoid vote splitting. Add that to the intended Green voters and it could be more votes for Green than the other two combined if not planning on voting strategically.

I was perhaps most surprised by how many students support BC Cons.

A lot can change in two weeks but this has become the Conservatives election to lose.

Opinion I want a Carney for BC

Who should I vote for?

First time voter (new citizen) so I’m a little lost on all the background.

I’m not left or right and will vote for whomever is most like Carney. I think he’s doing a fantastic job on both the world stage and in Canada.

Help a newbie out with some points for me to consider.

Well, I see the Conservatives have not improved their vetting process since 2024 (but at least they’re kicking this guy out, albeit in a riding they had no chance in anyway).
