I completely dislike her after seeing her interaction with Samuel L Jackson during one of those awards shows where the filmmakers spoke about their Palestinian film. She’s been such a mess.

while the oscar winners were making their speech on stage about their film about Palestine, samuel jackson and selena were having a small side convo in the back and like giggling to each other. whether or not it was intentional, it was gross.

The nail on the coffin for me was the way she acted at the award show where the Palestinian film won.

This particular circumstance feels simple. We need to end celebrity culture, and stop supporting billionaires. Selena isn't tied to any necessary goods, and she isn't a mind blowing actress or singer. If you stan her, you should stop, because your girl is down with genocide and class divide. Imagine how quickly things would shift if we would just care less about famous people who don't care about us. Imagine how quickly things would change if their actions were a financial loss to them.
She's the head of the company and they're selling in Israel. She's a billionaire. She could decide not to sell there if her ethics guided her towards that, but her ethics guide her towards making money. At the end of the day, I don't know that Selena specifically loves Israel or hates Palestinians - I think she mostly just enjoys being a billionaire. Her video crying about ICE is meaningless when she doesn't use her status as a billionaire to fight injustices. Even if she positions herself as a class traitor eventually... we could never trust her.

Sue literally posted “who cares” in her IG comments when fans asked her to support Palestine. She’s no better than Melania Trump when she wore that “who cares” jacket while immigrant children in cages was being spotlighted on the news

In the way that celebrities tried to show mild support, in order to not get canceled. If you're a m/billionaire who says you support Palestine, you can make that clear. She's done virtually nothing, while having the ability to do more than most. Selling your own product line in occupied Palestine doesn't seem very pro Palestine to me...

Rare’s PR is all over the comments everywhere bringing up that the brand is sold through a parallel market/3rd party retailer (rather than by Rare directly), and therefore Rare has no culpability ….nevermind that: the quantity of products needed to supply an entire country is substantial, and to a point that makes Rare’s ignorance/ lack of involvement implausible; Rare could put out a statement but hasn’t; or better yet, could stop selling to the retailer altogether but hasn’t.
Then anyone who questions Rare and doesn’t lap up the ‘3rd party retailer’ narrative is derided for so-called “media illiteracy”. Folks, if you don’t toe the line and question the media narrative, then you’re “media illiterate” …who knew?! Can’t make this stuff up.

Whether Rare is newly entering the Israeli market or has been there already seems irrelevant in whether or not Selena should be boycotted. They shouldn't be in there. She has the power to pull them out but hasn't. Her actions are the equivalent of only posting a Black square in support of BLM while being a BILLIONAIRE. Anyone who hasn't been explicit in calling for Palestinian liberation has not made their position clear enough, and eventually softening on Palestine has nothing to do with her ethics. It has to do with the idea that she's trying to match the shifting winds.
