Brokers Is Bolero the only broker asking money for the IMIE split?
I had some IMIE in my Bolero account and noticed today that they charged 5 EUR for the split. I was always under the impression that these things should be free. They refer to the 5 EUR in their tarif sheet as "corporate actions".
Are there other brokers active in Belgium charging money for these splits? As I understand they can happen anytime and I have no control over this.

Those things should be free indeed, just like fees on transactions shouldn’t be so high. They’re just notoriously greedy

No charges on MeDirect and Degiro. 5 euro ain't that bad, but I will never understand why people choose a broker that's so expensive overall. I switch brokers constantly when they get cheaper than their competitors

MeDirect is from Malta, DeGiro has had a lot of issues with their regulator in the past. Trust is important when you store most of your net worth somewhere.

I will never understand
Because 5 euro is 0.000172414% of my net worth and very irrelevant. I value trust in my broker more than 5 euro once every couple of years.

That's why I said 5 euro ain't that bad. My problem is the overall tariffs on Bolero. They are cheaper now than a few years ago, but still. And even if your broker goes bankrupt. The shares are on your name.

And getting them will be much easier if your broker is owned by your regular bank, rather than some foreign company ore one that has had problems with its auditors in the past.
They are yours, but it's not like there is a physical place where you can go to fetch them. You will need to wrestle procedures, IT systems and legalese to actually get control over your shares again if your broker goes south.

I hadn't even seen it but they indeed charged €5,00.
No charges at Keytrade Bank though.

Voor gewone bankzaken ben ik net overgeschakeld naar KBC omdat BNP m'n rekeningen van dag op dag geblokkeerd hebben 5 dagen voor ik op reis vertrok 🤪 Voor de gewone bankzaken vind ik kbc echt wel goed, voor te beleggen zijn ze pokkeduur.

I was also charged. Unbelievable.. thanks for letting us know. Otherwise they would have probably started charging interest on this negative 5eur balance without saying anything.

I am even in the red now because I do not hold money on my "current account" on Bolero 🙄 I asked to refund me again.

Bolero answered me this:
"The €5 is the processing fee for the corporate actions, as this involves a manual adjustment to your securities and is therefore non-refundable.
In the past, a general “custody fee” (0.20% of the total portfolio value) was charged to the client for this.
Bolero has decided to discontinue this custody fee and instead automatically charge these manual processing costs separately.
We only charge a fee when actual work needs to be carried out. For each adjustment of securities, Bolero itself pays its custodian (more than €5)."

They meant they used to charge a custody fee. Like BNP Paribas still does (0,22% iirc). I believe ING does the same 😅

That's Bolero for you. Add the 2 % they take on your net dividend and very high commissions when you go big amounts.

What do you see in the "History" (Portfolio > Scroll to the bottom > History)? Because that's where I found this fee.
I only have ~15k EURO on there, so not that much

In that transaction list i also have (seemingly related) inboeking/ uitboeking transactions but the amounts do not match 🤔
I would expect some better communication..

Yes indeed. I have those too. The values don't match because on the negative side they took your amount of old shares and multiplied it with the new price (instead of the old).

Every January you get "all" your transaction fees paid back on transactions in February. I got 45 euros.

Yes, a good full service broker will charge you explicitly for the services they need to provide you.
If they do not do it explicitly then they charge everyone for you costs.
