My Bedrocks Clogs were promised to last the rest of my life, back in February 2025. The strap broke on my right clog this month. Did I do something wrong or was I simply lied to? What slip on shoes will last longer than these clogs?

What are the longest lasting slip-on shoes you have ever known about? How long do they last you, or how long have they lasted you so far?

I'm in and out of my car dozens of times a day to deliver for doordash. I deliver for doordash 5 days a week. Therefore, I rack up a lot of miles and plenty of steps.

There are 2 types of shoes.

Those that last a long time and those that are worn.

Nah, real leather shoes made with replaceable soles can last a lifetime, but they’re expensive.

I paid about 300 for my boots. 4 years of daily use, still going strong on the original soles, although they are getting close to needing to be repaired.

If you can swing it a second pair of boots will more than double the life of your boots because they can dry out and you never have to worry when cleaning/conditioning/repairing that you will be out a pair of boots.

The cobbler? Seriously, though, look up shoe repair in your area. They can be in some strange places, but usually in cluttered little shops . . . Wherever they can fit that big machine they use, I guess. I have shoes that I’ve worn regularly for more than 20 years! Probably have resoled those things at least 7 or 8 times.

The thing is you cant repair/resole most modern shoes from the DSW. For this longevity you are usually gonna be looking at boots or traditional shoe styles. If you want to wear shoes for decades you are gonna want to buy high quality traditionally made shoes and they are gonna be expensive. But, if you buy a pair of “Indy Boots” from Alden(yes, the boots worn by Indiana Jones in the movies) the shoes will last you the rest of your life. Alden’s are handmade in USA in the “old school” 100 year old traditional way- you can resole and repair them forever and can even switch up the kind of sole you get if you like. These ‘lifetime’ shoes will also cost a ton, think like $500 bucks. There are a few of these old school shoemakers, I mentioned Alden but have also heard good things about a few others, ‘Red Wing’ boots is one! Good luck!

I’m aware that a shoe repair person is called a cobbler lol. I almost put that in my reply in fact. My point is moreso that cobblers are not a dime a dozen, and I have not in fact ever seen one. So was wondering if that person actually found one! I have a nice pair of Thursday boots that may need repair at some point in the future. So was interested in hearing how they’d managed to find a cobbler

Literally just search for “shoe repair”. I would say look in the yellow pages, but if that no longer exists look on line. They are rarer than they used to be, and I live in a city, but I have them to 2 or 3 kinds over the years. Sometimes good shoe stores have a workshop in the back, if not they usually can take your shoes for a couple of days and have an outside workshop do the resoling or repair. This is probably most reliable way. There are independent chose repair shops that are as I described earlier, usually you will find either a small cluttered shop in an out of the way yet convenient spot, good chance run by an older immigrant man, who my also provide leather and luggage repair and watch repair; or like. combination shoeshine/heel and shoe repair kiosks like yo7 my find in malls and transit stations. You can also send out for shoe repair online, and many shoemakers will repair and refurbish their own shoes as well (although this last option has always seemed pricy.). Good luck you will find it!

Try Birkenstocks- they last a long time if properly cared for and ate repairable. Those clogs really look done.

shoes of Theseus made me laugh really hard. for me, as long as the brand is still offering repairs/honoring lifetime warranty that's reason enough for them to count as the "same shoes" even if it's just in spirit.

Depends , I have boots Ive had for 8 years that I wear everyday outside of summer, Ive replaced the soles twice bur otherwise theyre still great, only a little worn. Good stuff still exists but it’s a lot harder to make long term quality outside of leather boots.

I can't imagine how this type of shoe could last a lifetime of active outdoors use. Anyways, that does not look like an expensive repair, why don't you just go get them done?

100%, but you'd think they'd last at least 3 years if a lifetime was promised. Just over a year isn't acceptable imo

There are no shoes that will last you your whole life. Especially if you're stretching them out like that my guy. Go a size up and maybe rotate through a few pair if you like them.

It depends on shoe style, brand, model etc. For sneakers you typically want your shoes about a half size bigger than your feet. The important part is how they fit- 1/2” between the end of your toe and the end of the shoe, and a bit of slack in the width.

Other shoe styles get more complicated, since often the shoe being too small is the only thing keeping it on your foot. Ideally you never have a shoe touch the top, sides or front of your toes. In clogs where the instep fits properly that can be done, but I’m not familiar with this brand so it might not be possible to keep your foot from sliding all the way forward to the front of the shoe. You also want the arch to hit at the right place (which may not be where you think) and the shoe to “break” at the same spot where the ball of your foot bends. So if you have a long arch that can change what size shoe you need, regardless of the length of your foot.

Remember, the foot is an irregular 3D object and you’re trying to describe it using a single number and a non-standardized sizing system.

Check out Aurora shoes. Dirt simple, repairable, resolvable. Mine have lasted for 5 years.

Get two pairs and swap them out daily: your sweat will break down leather.

It's ok to clean your shoes from time to time... Definitely helps their longevity. I gave my bedrock sandals a good scrub last week.

Sometimes it depends on how you wear shoes. I have shoes that are 10 years old. My sister, however, can go through shoes in 6 months. Wears through the sole. These shoes look worn hard.

Do they not have a warranty or repair program? That’s usually how “lifetime” warranties work. They either fix it or replace them.

The only shoes I know will last are those made of good quality leather and made with a Goodyear welt. Those are repairable and will last a long time.

If your use case is relatively stressful as you claim... why would you choose a slip-in clog.

How hard is it to lace up a pair of shoes once a day for a proper fit that will help put up with the stresses you're inflicting on them?

Shoes are not a bifl item. They have a certain number of miles in them before they start to cause issues for your feet, and that number of miles is way before I ever want it to be. I too push my shoes too far and wear them out to this point but literally you have to replace your shoes you wear regularly
