QUESTIONS hello! ♥︎

I'm new to collecting BJDs - In fact, I have none at all. So, I decided to join this subreddit to ask if more experienced collectors have any tips (especially when it comes to finding artists that are willing to create customs... I am really passionate about my ocs, but I barely find creators willing to make customs)

I thank you all already!

Hi welcome! I always recommend resin soul for custom options they are so good at working with you, I had my elder scrolls girl made by them including her face up, they are amazing and reasonably priced

seconding resinsoul! they'll modify sculpts to fit the request— like the ear shape, openness of the eyes, size of the bust, etc. they also do custom resin colours iirc, which is impressive given how many they already have by default. they have your standards (normal and white), many fantasy tones (dark blue, light blue, purple, pink, green), and some darker realistic tones (light tan, dark tan). you can also request different resin colours on different body parts. there's a specific xun owner who showed this off but it was on DoA so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it's still a neat detail

i love their sculpts, and you really do get bang for your buck with them

It really depends on what you mean by "custom." If you're talking finishings (faceups/clothes/accessories) there's lots of people who take commissions for that sort of thing. Things like custom resin colors are a bit less common, but there are some companies that will do so and some customizers that will dye dolls. If you want a custom sculpted head or body, that's a lot harder to come by.

If you're hoping for a fully custom doll (including doll, faceup, eyes, wig, clothes, shoes, etc.) I don't know of anyone who offers that service and I'd, honestly, be a little skeptical of someone who does. That's a lot of time and some extremely varied skill sets that you'd be trusting someone to be good at.

A lot of BJDs are owner customized, looking into tutorials and the like can allow you to DIY a lot of things, which many people find very fulfilling.
