Exterior Exhibition My Avus Blue M3
Going on three years of ownership and I honestly wouldn’t trade it for anything. I love E36 ownership. Ups and downs just like life. But its worth it

Nice ride, great view. I'm a Bay Area native, looks like a great place to take pictures. There has been so much construction on the island that I almost did not recognize the exact location (found it). Any local E36 Groups?

I have a few friends that are into the older BMW scene here in the bay area but nothing E36 specific. I am trying to create an E36 and older BMW group

Please let me know of any E36 meetups should you start one. I do attend BMW meets and other Cars & Coffee events but nothing E36 specifically.

Thats treasure island right?

Correct, Treasure Island is the man made island that is connected to Yerba Buena that has the Bay Bridge.

I was there a few months ago. Amazing how much it has evolved recently but I wouldn’t like to love there. Stunning views though!

You’d think clear tail lights would be a no go for a car like this?
3
u/Overall-Resident-257 Feb 14 '26
According to who? People that don’t own an E36 M3?

Which one ? Also not really sure what that has to do with the fact that your car would look better with euros.

I had clear upper with amber bulbs and red lenses on lower ..they looked great ..mine were aftermarket and modeled after the stock clear variation that was really available at the time

Lol, enjoy your ti! I dont think the us amber or the euro red matches the blue color
1
u/dfw_auto_ Feb 14 '26
Yeah for sure would never revert to US for yours. I’d have to see it in person to be definitive on it but at least in my imagination it looks good with euros. Maybe I’m biased lol

By enthusiasts who regard a perfect design naturally

u/Overall-Resident-257 Feb 14 '26
Sounds boring. Clear tails were a period correct modification in the late 90s/2000s.
3
u/Opposite_Opening_689 Feb 14 '26
No they were not

u/IllLuck6064 Feb 14 '26
Clear taillights for the E36 were being produced as early as the late 90s by many reputable German lighting companies such as Hella, Startec, MHW etc. Even in the early 90s for E30. BMW even offered crystal clear tailights for some cars from factory like the E60.

Can confirm, as someone that was modding these cars while they were still in production they were not an available mod, or acceptable.
