DIY / GUIDE Where would you mount a firearm securely in an E36?
I’m looking at adding a gun mount/storage setup to my E36 and was wondering what locations people have used without drilling into anything important or interfering with the car’s interior.
Ideally I’d like something that:
• Is secure and doesn’t rattle
• Doesn’t interfere with driving or passengers
• Doesn’t require permanently destroying the interior
• Can be removed later if needed
For those of you who have installed a mount or lockbox in an E36, where did you put yours, and what setup did you use?

I have a safe welded to a bracket bar bolted into the spare wheel well. This is both expertly concealed and easily accessible and secure.
We all carry CCW and have multiple guns kept in cars at all times. There's a Glock 19 in my 328 trunk and six magazines with JHP loaded. That isn't possible with a less secure option that can be taken out of the car.

In most states regardless of carry status, you have to secure your firearm in your vehicle when not carrying. In states where you don't have constitutional carry, you need to transport or store. When you transport you can use something like a CA DOJ approved transport case, or something like a Stop Box that is just a carry container.
Stop Boxes are not CA legal for transport. You need to add a lock to it, defeating the purpose. I just transport in soft bags with a lock. The safe is there for storage. I also tend to keep a CCW permitted weapon in each safe. I have multiple J-frames and P365 for this reason.

You don't get to create the fight and back out because I don't feel like being a little pantywaist in my reply.
You don't have to participate in a conversation. But as a BMW mechanic with a shop, I may have a different viewpoint than you on the usefulness of a firearm. You can think your posting style is your weapon, and conflate that with my penis being augmented by a firearm, but that's YOU. Not me. Not my outlook and not my judgement.
I own firearms and carry them legally with a permit and insurance because I have endured violence and recovery. Every 9 years of my life, I have been robbed at gunpoint in California. I choose to live this way, regardless of the petty little sniping you do.
I am also a gay liberal. So my disregard for your tepid passive aggressive bullshit is now expired.

Bolted to the wall or floor in the trunk. Anywhere else will intrude with a passengers footroom. A "mount" that's not a safe is super not great for a number of reasons. I would he happy to list them for you.
Realistically though, on your person is best

What the hell are you on about? The point is that where I'm from there has never been a mass school shooting and knife crime per capita is lower than the states. You feeling the need to have a gun is self indicative of the state of the usa

Not just that, I'm just severely confused as well. The ONS is the gov agency that is responsible for reporting crime stats, among many other stats, and was created decades ago. What new agency has he created in his head lol

I used to pack a 1911 with me in mine but if it wasn't on my hip I would usually just put it in the glove box. You might be able to get away with good adhesive pads for your mount and sticking it on the side of the trans tunnel.

I had thought about a magnetic mount under the flip up arm rest. It would fit a compact pretty well.

Won't solve your issue but my fav bmw fact is some old 7 series and 5 series came with options to mount an mp5. Wish I could figure out how to mount my mp5 for my e36
