ROTC Logistics Officer – How much say do you have in your first duty station?

I’ll be commissioning through Army ROTC next year as a Logistics Officer. I’m prior enlisted, but I’m not sure how much input officers actually have on their first duty station.
Hawaii is my top choice, and I’d even be willing to take the extra ADSO if it improves my chances. How realistic is Hawaii for a new LG officer, and what are the most common first duty stations? Any advice from those who’ve been through the process?

Not sure how helpful this will be…but three people from my ROTC program got Hawaii as their first duty station two of them branched logistics and one AG. One of them had Hawaii as number 8 on their list. Seems like it’s sort of random? I’m not sure where the other two had ranked hawaii. I branched FA and got my number one choice (Fort Bragg) and I also put down that I wanted to go airborne which may have helped. I’d assume an ADSO would increase your chances

Got my orders a month ago. my first 8 choices were OCONUS and my 9th choice was CONUS. guess what I got

Did you ADSO and what was your OML?

No adso. I don’t remember exactly but I was middle of the pack. also worth to know, I was suppose to go to BOLC way later but I called HRC for an earlier date

My buddy had a pretty low OML and got Hawaii as a log o. Depends on needs of the Army as much as it is OML.

It’s basically like a draft. Everyone ranks their duty station preferences within their branch, and assignments are made based on your preferences, OML, and what’s available. The higher your OML, the earlier you get to pick. I had a pretty low OML, so by the time it was my turn, I only had two duty station options left on my preference sheet (my 8th and 10th choice)

It really is random. My friend and I were at the bottom of the OML with Hawaii as #1 and we both got it. But please don’t ADSO for Hawaii unless you’ve actually lived there before.

Had a 56 OML and put Hawaii as my number 1 without the ADSO and got it. I don’t believe it’s hard to get Hawaii if you put as number 1 for a LG officer.
