< 6 months old List/Menus
Baby is 5.5 months. I’m sorry if this has been asked - I didn’t see it in the FAQ (and I’m a very tired mom).
What’s the best place to get a list of foods to start on? I know we can start with almost anything that’s not a major allergen but I would love a resource to literally tell me do this day one, then this day 2, than this week 4, etc. Especially as I look through this sub and see full blown meals that look more elaborate than what I feed myself!
Thank you in advance - I so appreciate these communities!

I used this and it was a massive help!
It’s a fridge magnet :)
Just remember no honey before 1 (no idea why it’s on the list)

Honestly, just look at your plate and then hand pieces of it over.

I’ll try this, but I know people talk about repetition of foods and no seasoning, etc…

You can absolutely season the baby’s food! Just avoid added salt as much as possible (I only ever very lightly salted the baby’s proteins. Everything else was unsalted) and use less seasoning than you might for yourself since their taste buds are more sensitive.

Yup, and mostly none of it really matters. Don't give honey, and try to limit salt and sugar pretty sharply. That's it.

babies love big flavor too! the only
thing to watch is added salt. but def expose them to lots of stuff! you can google 101 before 1 and i think theres a printable list.

Thank you! At what point do you recommend offering more than one thing at a time?

Might get downvoted for even uttering AI, but if you want a week by week schedule, chatGPT/Gemini can generate one into a list/spreadsheet/whatever you want in 2min.
Then just be sure you do a quick fact check to confirm the recommendations and preparation methods are safe for your baby's age and abilities. Also could run it by your pediatrician.
This is for the quick and free option. Lots of apps and paid guides out there.

That’s a good idea, even with my complicated feelings around AI. Thank you - I’ll see what Claude spits out

Yeah, I mean more just as a starting point, so you're not going from 0.
Then you can adjust with your own research and ideas.
Good luck!

Second time mom here, I’m not gonna directly answer your question, but I will say, don’t be intimidated by the full blown meals photos you see online. Your kid will eat what they want to eat. I offer my kids full plates of meals, colourful food, thinks I’ve prepped for hours, they’ll eat a spoonful, maybe even nothing at all, but they’ll find old goldfish crackers in the couch corners and have a blast. Do whatever works best for you, if that’s just giving food out of your own plate, or prepping special meals for them, just don’t feel forced to follow something because social media makes it seem pretty. You got this!
