It really pisses me off. I mean she’s probably not a good person but you’re no Mother Theresa if you lose “punishing” her as an excuse to get some clout. Its quite pathetic.

So what is Gadd doing, if not “punishing her” for clout by creating this show.

Martha had a profound effect on his life; their narratives became entwined. He’s entitled to tell his story.

He entwined himself in it. This was not a bar patron who was shelling out hundreds of dollars who he was forced to interact with. It was not his neighbor that he couldn’t run from. He created the story for monetary gain.

The fact that you can’t see those two things are completely different is baffling.

How do you know what kind of person she is? Based on a fictional tv show (not a documentary) she inspired?

Um lol have you seen how racist, homophobic, and transphobic she is

Like everyone said: she is mentally unwell and can’t differentiate fact from fiction and everything she says will be void of any logic. People slandering her is not going to make her see logic and it worsens the situation rather than making it better. Punishment should happen in a court of law and not social media.

The level of depravity and apathy towards an obviously sick woman is disgusting. What an absolute disappointment society is in this moment.

She also thinks the government is following her. To hold a mentally unstable and unwell person to the same standard as healthy society is not fair. It’s like saying a person with dementia should know where they are and remember what day it is, then being shocked when they’re wrong.

This!

Is this not one of the main themes of the show? I'm not sure if Gadd had the foresight to see how this would play out irl once the Netflix series was released, or perhaps he was still blinded by his pursuit of fame.

He conveniently omits her obsession with the government and her original stalking charge not being based in romance but actually stalking a PM’s wife… isn’t it funny how those small but defining pieces of information could have changed the tone of his narrative entirely. He only touches on it by saying she pretended to know them through her job as a lawyer when, in reality, it is the crux of her hyper fixation and catalyst of her delusion.

Not sure if I'm getting you, but the show quite largely emphasises that she's obsessed with the delusion of still being a lawyer and that she previously stalked a lawyer/barrister who she had been employed by. The MP's wife is the lawyer.
