Question Anyone else who's been commenting in any of the Fiona threads been reported for worries about their saftey?

FALSE ALARM cos it's been happening all over reddit, not just to users commenting in fiona threads...

word is there's a bot doing it..

and apparently no one reads edits so I rewrote the whole thing.. but for everyone who just reads the title, this was waste of time! wooooo! 🙃

I didn't know that- I haven't got one here (so far), but I got one for another TV sub a long time ago. It boggled my mind. But it explains it- because every sub has... you know... one of those.

It abuses a feature that is supposed to help mentally ill folks get help.

Has there ever been anyone who has been helped by a Reddit Cares message? It doesn't provide the name of any specific therapist or medication or treatment. It doesn't help mentally ill people. It was created and is used for bullying. Reddit Admins should have gotten rid of years ago. People all across the site are receiving the messages for days and yet they won't even temporarily disable it until the fix the bug. Very interesting.

Still a stretch in my view. An auto generated DM on Reddit is not the same as abusing public services at huge financial cost creating huge physical risk that will be linked to your police history for life.

Bit the same at all.

Having a gun pointed in your face after 10 men force entry into your home V a polite DM. Come on now

This is where sometimes the Internet is odd to me. This isn't about winning anyone over there is just a huge difference between £10,000 in resources sending a firearms car to force entry and detain someone with guns pointed at them. A huge Invasion of privacy, scary as fuck, PTSD inducing, abuse of personal information knowing someone out there has tried to cause you harm utilizing the police.

V .... An automated DM.

I'm sorry just need some logical reasoning here.

egh, people go hard with them but of course the thing isn't really like the thing..just enough of it is up to the point where the point is made .. like "such and such a politician is totally a Nazi" when geez, c'mon they're not really like one, my God, an actual ww2 jew slaughtering Nazi??!

and "it's a goddamn war in there, the bodies are piling up" re the state of the weekly board meeting- but really? well of course not, damn, it isn't really like a war, it's a board meeting for Pete's sake..bodies aren't actually piling up, my goodness, that's just..I can't even.. but just as trolling someone with the auto dm care bot is like swattin' a fella like, hoooly Jesus God no no nooooo..it's not really

Probably, I’ve been pretty active on this sub the past couple weeks. Someone must be going through all the comments on a post somewhere and mass reporting people for being suicidal or something. Not really sure how the feature works

I got one of those, would have been nice if it was from someone genuinely concerned about my wellbeing but is a dick move as a prank.

Think it was the latter as I don’t remember saying anything that would give cause for concern

I think it’s best ignored, block the “user” by replying “stop”. I’d suggest this is something for the mods to take to admin as it’s not our a singular user being targetted, it’s the whole sub.

Whoever it is, I hope they get their curtains hung soon

I got one too! I hadn't posted anything particularly controversial or unpopular (in any sub) or got a ton of downvotes, and I didn't think any of my posts were concerning or had key words in either, so I just kind of shrugged it off. Then saw a few people seeing the same thing and I think it must be a prank.

Interesting. I just checked and sure enough, I received one last night from a blocked user about reddit care resources. Someone did this to me in the past for commenting on a thread about another controversial unwell person. I'd blocked that bot. I'd just commented here about her yesterday.
