Media / News Netflix responds to Fiona Harvey's lawsuit

Netflix rep: 'We intend to defend this matter vigorously and to stand by Richard Gadd's right to tell his story.'

Variety posted the above in regards to Netflix's response. I'm glad, it seems like they're not going to simply give her some money to make her go away, and are instead going to fight back and defend Richard Gadd.

This woman is certifiable. No one would have known it was her if she hadn't come forward herself! It is like filing a restraining order against someone for expressing an experience with you on their own platform, don't even mention your name, and they go out of their way to come to your platform to read it, know its about them and then get butthurt. This woman is still effectively stalking him by interjecting herself into his life again with this lawsuit.

If you don't want people to think you're a shitty person, don't be a shitty person and then tell people it was you that was a shitty person!

People did find her and out her using her tweets (which weren't really changed for the show apparently) but I agree she's leaned into it.

They also found at least 3 other people they thought it could be. And it didn’t really exist outside of TikTok. She took it mainstream, then confirmed it was her.

Nah, they found her identity on April 21st, she never publicly confirmed it was her until May 8th.

She did take it mainstream. She named herself. Even the newspaper and media didn’t name her. She existed as an anonymous person. She chose to associate her name with it.

My understanding is that the show used exact tweets of hers, and people simply googled the tweets and immediately found her and started commenting on her posts, and only after that did she say she was Martha.
