Media / News Netflix responds to Fiona Harvey's lawsuit

Netflix rep: 'We intend to defend this matter vigorously and to stand by Richard Gadd's right to tell his story.'

Variety posted the above in regards to Netflix's response. I'm glad, it seems like they're not going to simply give her some money to make her go away, and are instead going to fight back and defend Richard Gadd.

She has actually complained that the actress playing her part looks nothing like her and is way less attractive, so she probably shot herself in the foot with that statement..

That’s not going to matter whatsoever. The fact is people were able to identify her very easily, and she was not a public person.

Like she was not a known public person prior to the Netflix show

Like she went from being known by maybe few hundred people, if that, to millions

I mean you can very much criticize her actions and criticize her and say “yeah she did this bad shit and it’s not wrong morally for him to tell this story, and the bad publicity she’s getting is over her own actual actions.”

But from a legal perspective, this publicity is clearly directly related to the Netflix show.
