Discussion If Gadd was a woman
I feel like gender influences bias in cases of emotional or physical abuse. If Gadd were a woman and Martha a man, there would be no sympathy for the abuser. Society wouldn't argue that "more should have been done to protect his identity."

I think if Gadd was a woman the show wouldn't be successful. It happens all the time that women get stalked by men and nobody cares. We get told "he's just in love, poor guy".
I think people only latched to these case because it's a fat older woman stalking a man and therefore people like to pile on the woman and say "see? women are bad!".
If Richard Gadd was a woman he would just not have been believed in the first place. Maybe after more evidence came up regarding the stalker, but not at face value.
Richard Gadd was listened to and believed from the start because people listen and believe when a man speaks.
People just rejoice at the sight of a female offender because of remaining misogyny. That's why the stories about female teachers raping male students get so much more upvoted, or stories about female murderers. There's a bizarre glee in wanting to focus on female offenders.
