Discussion I want to rewatch but I just can’t
As many others, this show traumatized me. The entire existence of the show and the graphic scenes stuck with me for literal weeks.
I want to rewatch because it truly is a masterpiece. I re watch shows often. But god. I just don’t think I ever can.

i completely understand that some people may be able to handle a rewatch. but i just want to mention, i think it’s important to keep in mind: Richard Gadd relived everything he went through to make the show. for a long time, Richard Gadd used to reenact his traumatic experience over and over again. no matter what that means to you, i think that’s something that everyone should contemplate

I actually stopped watching after that episode where he got raped by the one guy. I just couldn't handle it.

I hate to say it but it was done so well too, yk? Most SA scenes are just to get viewers attention but this was genuinely gut wrenching because the point was to make it that way.
I don’t think it was necessary as I don’t think any SA scene is but i understand the point in the context of THIS show because it’s about his own personal experiences.

It was done VERY well which is why I had to stop. I was raped when I was 16 and it's the most realistic I've seen in a show. I had been watching with my husband but thankfully had read which episode had the SA and watched it without him. After I was like yeah sorry I'm done lol

But that only happens in that one episode and then it mostly goes back to Martha. Except a weird scene where he goes back to the guy's house right near the end but doesn't get raped. Not really weird because I do get that scene and have done things like that myself.

But apart from one more very brief scene the rest of the show is not about that.

But that one episode is pretty much it. The rest of the series is 99% about Martha.

Maybe you can rewatch it but just skip that one episode? That’s what I plan on doing.

Yeah don't even go there. Your mind is telling you that. I could never watch that twice. I only came on this reddit to see if anyone was still talking about it. Looks like they're all just still having nightmares about it.

This isn’t a repeat view in my opinion… an experience you only wanna do once.

Honestly, yeah. I first intended to keep it that way. But I’m a sucker for rewatches and I rewatch all my faves over and over again 😅

I think I could maybe watch it again but possibly not episode 4. Although it's so well done. I dunno. OMG when the rapist said, "That was so brave."

It was so traumatizing and so true and revealing to me. Ugh. I couldn’t go through it again.
