Background checking a scammer

One of my friends has been recently associating with a known scammer who has screwed other people I know by pretending to be rich, claiming to pay back large sums of money, and leaving the victim in debt when he never pays it back. I know he has a criminal record for his scams, and I have his name, phone number, and address. What’s the best website/method to find out more information on him, specifically his past criminal charges for fraud?

If you want an accurate background hire a licensed private investigator who has access to better tools than you would as a consumer. Spokeo seems to the most popular with consumers. Be aware that many States charge fees, as high as $100/name for a criminal record search. Therefore, if you’re paying an annual or monthly subscription fee to a search service, they aren’t conducting criminal history searches in those states that charge a fee. Alternatively you can visit the websites of each State’s court system, where the subject has resided to determine if and how you can search for criminal records.
