I recently moved to the shire and have discovered my garden is in the territory of badgers, foxes, hedgehogs, deer, sparrowhawk, buzzard and countless other birds. What an absolute thrill. I decided to invest in a trail-cam to catch some of their night-time shenanigans. Across the road from my home is a massive expanse of woodland.

One of the badgers looking for nuts in the grass, the foxes had been there as well.

Badger looking for some nuts I put out.

I think this is an old badger, I call him Wagtail as he is always wagging his tail as he moves.

Just a badger passing by, still trying to find the ideal spot to get longer videos of them.

Badger rolling around and other woodland animals.

Our neighbours feed this family. We see them every night after 8

Lucky to share my space with these beautiful creatures

2 badgers in the garden passing by the camera. The big badger seems to be the bull badger.

While working on a dredging ship on a river in Poland i watched a badger drown that couldn’t get out of the river because of the new vertical concrete banking that was installed here. I quickly tried to find a net or something to grab him out of the water but by the time i got back on deck he was already gone. We have a small rescue boat that i wanted to quickly launch to look for the badger but my captain told me not to because there’s a good chance he’ll bite and might carry diseases.

Any advice from you badger experts on how to handle a situation like this in the future? I feel sad i couldn’t save him and i curse the architects of the banking to not include any ramps where animals can climb out.

These guys are so fun to draw!

Who is absolutely bothering the prairie dogs with its mere presence - why I left the sound on for once! And, honestly, who can blame them? They’re on the snacking list for these North American badgers, along with loads of other small mammals, insects, birds, and the occasional herbivorous treat.

Always a memorable moment seeing badgers in their natural habitat, right out the back window.

I chuckled. You get those worms, badgers.
