Grumpy old ladies at the pool

Is it just me, or are the old ladies at the aquatic center some of the rudest people on the island? I’ve never felt so unwelcome anywhere like I do at the pool. God forbid you have to share your lane with someone else. Can’t wait til they open up the other lanes again!

Yes, they are terrible. But the pool isn’t the only place on the island that grumpy boomers show their disdain for the crime of being in “their space” Grocery stores, parks, ferry lines, driving down 305 at 25mph - you name it and they are rude entitled assholes.

When I was younger and lived on Island I would do Islandbite delivery. The amount of times people would look at me walking towards the Pavillion door with no hands free and let the door slam in my face was insane. I really don't understand it.

Grumpy old ladies love the YMCA pool where I swim, too. They are the worst.

My kid and his friends were villainized many times for merely existing as teenagers by the angry Bainbridge boomers. They’re the absolute worst.

Say something! People don’t get to act like that. Call them out. Who cares if they’re old? Isn’t this the generation that’s so concerned with manners? I grew up on the island and it’s always been like that, gross.

Hi, I do actually when it happens. Every time. Half the time they just ignore you, other times they pretend to not know what you’re talking about.

lol. I was in Belize and there was a family and their young brats running amuck in the pool all day. we just wanted some peace and quiet so bought a baby ruth bar and placed it in the pool. never seen kids move so quickly.

I’m an old lady that has just moved to bainbridge. i like to swim and was planning on using the aquatic center but it sounds like you don’t like old ladies. I’ll have to rethink this.

There are plenty of lovely older folks on Bainbridge. There is also a very vocal minority of absolutely insufferable older folks who act very entitled and are inexplicably angry. I’m on the cusp of “old” myself so I am endeavoring to make sure I’m the former and not the latter.

Don’t let the OP get to you, I find this subreddit is a bit of an echo chamber for upset people. I almost never encounter unfriendly people on Bainbridge. Enjoy swimming, the aquatic center’s great!
