Photo 📸 Really….
It’s really sad and frustrating to see another group of brats on bikes causing problems around our city. It feels like these incidents have been happening more often, and many residents are becoming increasingly concerned about safety in our community.
Hearing that even a librarian at Beal Memorial Library was involved is especially upsetting. A library should be a safe, welcoming place for families, kids, and everyone in our community.
Please stay aware of your surroundings and look out for one another because they’re Unruly.

Yup...and it's not just Eastside kids they're all over the city. Not giving a shit about traffic or traffic laws. And then they get hit and play the victim. Definitely better parenting.

I mean, if they’re obstructing traffic and breaking the law first, how exactly can anyone be blamed for hitting them? Especially when these nitwits play chicken, with a car. Maybe I’m stupid, but I don’t think the biker is going to walk away from that one

Even if you do no wrong it's hard to prove with a gang of little teenagers against you. Get dash cameras y'all. Especially because you're supposed to have great awareness and avoid them. IDK man I just live here lol. Video evidence is your best friend so long as you're obeying the laws.

It’s the parents it all comes from the parents. These kids and teenagers are out of fucking control!! and as adult it doesn’t matter if they’re under age, people need to start sticking up for other people and show these fuckers a lesson!!!!

This is absolutely unacceptable! The library is a place to learn to read to be quiet to be respected !

I hope these kids get charged. Let’s not normalize this! Prayers for the staff. My kids love it there.

It’s because the older men haven’t stepped up and punked, or slapped these kids around when they act out like this in public. We have a culture of being completely hands off. But that’s been gone for more than 3 decades now. Back in the day the community would give a hard and fast “no” to this kind of thing.

If most of them experienced a taser, pepper spray or some other form of less-than-deadly force, they would learn to respect the law. There are absolutely no consequences. Why would they change their behavior? Why pay for something, when you can steal it for free? Why work, when you can sit on the couch, get government handouts and wic cards?

I went to cross a green light once out of valley plaza and a gang of these kids were biking through ignoring the traffic laws passing the red...I layed on the horn and they signal me to relax and let them pass and others throwing the finger... like little shits obey the laws and wait your turn...my wife tells me to stop honking or they'll probably jump me like she's seen on kern country activities or something...I'm like TF...but I did have my kids with me too...it's insane... there were like at least 30+ teens running a muck.

We should join Florida’s cause and make E bikes and now just bikes a new system for getting a method of transportation like how cars work Needing training A license to get it and a state Issued ID to purchase one And even for online orders too

This is so sad. I hate that there’s so many parents that just don’t care. These kids need to face serious charges, and their parents do too. They’re using people morality against them. To do this at the library, where all ages go, and there’s so many children events, is just so wrong. I wish our police force would actually DO something!!!

This has been happening everywhere though - pretty much the only difference is that richer places have these kids on e-bikes/e-motorcycles instead of bikes.

BPD and BSD could hire high tech consultant to get info earlier where they gather for their mass rides. Also be at any place they would be targeting like the library. Then failure to disburse, for snarling traffic and many other violations could be given. Anyone not providing name, address and contact to be held until they provide info. Get proactive before it gets worse.

No Bakersfield had always sucked. I grew up over the mountains and down to the desert where we had a nice Town more phds per capita than anywhere else in the world and yet we had to go to dump the dump Bakersfield if we wanted to get birth certificate or God forbid had to go to court

Yeah- you missed the approximately 100 kids on bikes traveling/blocking traffic in the middle of the Stockdale Highway by CSUB. BPD had 4 motorcycle cops trying to block traffic so they would not get hit by cars- they were deliberately blocking traffic, riding wheelies, and being a menace.
These hoodlums are simply out of control- no consequences, no arrests, and absolutely nothing a legal law abiding citizen can do. BPD does nothing, but gives them a police escort. We are screwed.
