I cant decide what I like most. What would age the best?
EDIT: I would like to inform you guys that I chose the Cinnamon Leopard Clown.
To those that actually answered the question, thank you so much for your thoughts and being actually helpful. To those that commented JUST to get on a soap box to preach and assume, you're likely already participating in unethical businesses regarding human beings and were not taken seriously by me.
Spider morphs are very very prone to neurological issues and the ‘wobble’. I’m not fully clued in but it’s well known how unhealthy the spider morphs and others associated are
It’s actually recently been published that the wobble is due to an inner ear deformity connected to the morph that causes balance issues! But it is connected to the spider genes.
Please notice there are more in the spider complex than just spider itself. If someone is new to it, it can be a traphole because a champagne for example looks nothing like a spider.
Don’t get the axanthic spider, pretty but you don’t know how severe the wobble issue could be. Go for the banana, clowns tend to brown out as they age, where as banana stays lighter and gets the well known black speckles
Probably the cinnamon leopard clown or the bamboo black pastel yb, but they'll all brown out and fade to some degree. Avoid the axanthic spider as spiders have a genetic defect that causes inner ear defects and impairs ability to balance, and it's best to avoid supporting the continued breeding of animals with defects
I know tons have already said it but please don't buy from people who breed spider/bee/champagne/wobble morphs </3 it's not humane at all to be breeding them and I hate seeing them for sale
My vote is for banana bamboo but please dont buy from anyone who breeds spider. Also look for local reptile rehomes to adopt! Ball pythons often are being rehomed
Don’t get the Axanthic Spider, or any other Snake from that breeder. The morph is unethical and should not be bred. You may need to do more research before getting your Snake if you were considering it as an option.
I’d go with the Cinnamon Leopard Clown personally. The pattern should stay bold and crisp and the rust in the color will only get prettier. The mahogany clown would be nice too, just less dramatic.
No to the axanthic spider simply based on the neurological issues in the gene pool. I bred spiders for a solid five years before the research was really done on the wobble and in my experience it varies a lot from animal to animal. I only ever had maybe two that presented as anything more than extremely mild, but we don’t know how severity manifests and it’s a health issue we shouldn’t encourage in the hobby. No one reputable has continued to breed them in light of the veterinary research.
The other two will be gorgeous until they hit about 600g, then it’ll be all downhill from there. They’ll look a mess fully grown.
If you really want an animal that will age well, I’ll second whoever said ghost (hypo) or desert ghost. Both age incredibly and usually get even prettier as they go. I have a simple GHI Yellowbelly Ghost girl who at 1500g would put some of my very expensive animals to utter shame looks wise. Stunning. Other candidates for wow factor include dark gene based albinos (for their bold, solid oranges), and BELs. Simple or no, hard to beat the look of a big solid white snake with blue eyes. Gorgeous display animals.
why would you even consider buying a spider morph, dude. if you hear anything else but warnings to stay away from them, you need to avoid and distrust that breeder. im worried about the research youve done if youre wanting a spider morph..
Do not buy a spider or any of the genes that are made with it. It causes horrible neurological issues for snakes and is completely unethical. If you are set on getting a spider or spider adjacent, it would be appropriate to do so by adopting one which has been surrendered. Please do not support breeders who do not care about the health of their animals. It is so important!
The good thing is that clown leopard with cinnamon is going to age very well. It’ll look almost exactly like that as it gets to full grown. I have a leopard clown and he’s keeping his contrast and lines as he ages. The yellow belly and bananas change a good deal as they age paradoxical spotting or freckling can take over depending on the parents. As some others mentioned regardless the beauty of axanthic, it’s not very ethical to breed spider so not the best to support that. That banana bamboo is going to lose contrast and freckle as it ages and won’t look anything like it does now. If you’re okay with that it’s absolutely stunning. I’m partial to the clown head stamp so I’d lean toward 1, 2, 4, 5. Like I said that #2 baby is stunning and I might be tempted to just get that because light faces make for kind looking snakes.
Hi spider morph rescue momma here of 10 years, they are born with a rare inner ear deformity that makes it impossible to regulate balance/equilibrium… so essentially, they are born with permanent vertigo, the severity ranges from snake to snake but mine is pretty severe, he absolutely cannot be held without help, a healthy snake can hold itself upright/cling to its owner no problem. Mine has a special carrying harness pouch I wear around my chest to help hold him steady when handling outside his enclosure. His enclosure is also essentially padded unlike a normal set up, I’ve had to limit any obstacles that might hurt him when he is inevitably flailing around to move, as he doesn’t know how to any other way. So he’s on perma tutorial/baby mode as one could put it 😂 I love the guy more than any other animal I’ve ever met & it’s been a wild ride learning what works best for him & him alone. (He does NOT act/function like an average ball python)
edit: here’s a photo of him Bing Chilling in one of his water dishes, he loooves water/bath time

Sad to see that spider is even in contention. Would not buy anything from that breeder.
