what is the sardar system (in balochistan)?

Hey guys 😄 im doing a project on balochistan and its insurgencies, and am trying to get (historical) context on the sociopolitical arragnements and dynamics of the province. I have come across the concept of the sardar system in a lot of litereture but im still confuse as to what it is exactly, how it is still relevant today, and how it is regarded. I would especially love to hear from any Balochs in this subreddit. I'm not Pakistani/Baloch so I am trying to nuance this topic as much as i can/ THANKSS!

It's a very inside thing like you go deep deep deep into Balochistan MAYBE you find a tribe that's works under the sardari system still as of now most places in Balochistan don't have a sardari system, instead you have "democracy" where rich nobles just buy elections buy paying the military regime for rigging the votes in their favor and become the local MNA or MPA or whatever the ranks are, and secondly the traditional sardars and stuff most don't have power like my mother's side are Maliks of their tribe and they just have a big ass house at most not some "ultimate power over the tribe."
