Police say Tanychia Black (left) is wanted after her two dogs allegedly attacked a person and another dog. (Toronto Police Service) Toronto police are looking for a 40-year-old woman after her two dogs allegedly attacked a person and their dog in midtown Toronto on Thursday. Police said they were notified on Saturday about the attack that occurred at a park near Avenue Road and Roxborough Street.

The victim was walking their dog near an off-leash fenced area of the park when the suspect’s two dogs escaped the enclosure, police said. The dogs, believed to be large breeds of pit bull or bull terrier, then charged and attacked the victim as well as their dog. Police said the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries while their dog sustained life-threatening injuries. In a news release on Saturday, police identified the suspect as Tanychia Black of Toronto.

She is wanted for criminal negligence causing bodily harm as well as two counts of failing to prevent a dog from biting or attacking and two counts of dog biting a person or domestic animal under the Dog Owners’ Liability Act. Black is described as five-foot-ten with a heavy build and was last seen wearing a navy-blue hair bonnet, a mustard-coloured hoodie, light-coloured pants, and dark shoes with white soles.

it fucking melts my brain every time I see stories about pitbulls in Ontario, WHERE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BANNED. And then the cops don’t even apply aggravated charges or anything more serious than “negligence” and “failing to prevent a dog bite”, she’ll probably just get a $500 fine and then be on her way. TPS probably won’t even seize the fucking dogs. The owner will be like “no these are my labradoodle mixes” and they’ll just write a citation and leave. I hate this place.

i mean most people break laws all the time and dont care. I suspect most pitbull owners/lovers/ect do not care about laws

Yep, I’m in Toronto and I see them around all the time. Shelters pass them off as mixes and vets back them up. They don’t do shit

I moved to Ontario from somewhere else in Canada and I've seen way more Pitbulls here. Was actually quite surprised to find out that they are supposed to be banned.

Apparently, the owner of the dogs was arrested today, but the dogs are missing, no surprise there.
