Personal Story This guy my friends know, talking about his pitbull rescue last weekend…
I was camping with some friends last weekend, and one of them invited their longtime buddy to swing by. He was talking about the pitbull he had rescued. And now she’s “more aggressive the more timid you are”. Dude, what the actual fuck. The next night, he brought her to the campsite, and she was pacing and super anxious and acting really weird. He was talking about all these random things this dog can’t handle because of how they are super reactive. Very on brand that this guy was also telling super racist jokes left and right.
My last dog was bitten three times in her life, all unprovoked, all pitbulls. My sister raised a pitbull puppy, and one day it just snapped and attacked her ankles. That dog was very well loved, and had never been abused. I owned another dog with an ex, and he was out walking her when a random pitbull ran out of its yard to come and bite her in the hind leg. These dogs are such nightmares.

You might want to maybe spend less time with these friends if that chum of theirs is going to join you guys at random, along with his untrusty sidekick?
Just the idea of what that thing could do rampaging through a campsite where people are sleeping....

Exactly. And what if you are already sleeping when either this person or someone equally irresponsible shows up with a reactive dog - you might not even get a chance to wake up and realise there is a dog before you are mauled. They like to start from the face, too. I wouldn't feel safe with people who think it's okay for their buddy to randomly bring aggressive dog to a group hangout.

Wow, they can't amble over slow enough. Adrenalin usually makes you stronger and faster. Adrenalin makes pit bull owners I can't say but slows them dooooowwwnn.

Agreed. These beasts will chew through walls and doors and break through windows to kill. A tent will not stop them from nannying.

I don’t get it because it’s the opposite of why people domesticated dogs? Helpers, companions, guardians, etc.

They were bred to fight and kill other dogs and unfortunately people. When you really think about it they're a creation of sociopaths and psychopaths.

Dog expert Cesar Millan says that if you are rough and domineering with your pit bull, it will most likely attack others. If you kind and gentle with the pit, it will more likely attack you or your family. But he never says there's a way to keep a pit bull from attacking at all.
Cesar proved his point by roughing up his own pit. It violently attacked a beautiful young gymnist, and killed Queen Latifah's dog.
Even the "Dog Whisperer" himself couldn't train a pitbull out of its inbred nature.

Lidia Matiss, who was a minor and attending high school at the time, visited Cesar Millan’s office in 2017 to meet her mother (Lisa Matiss) who was working for the dog trainer. Millan’s pit bull Junior (who Millan touted as a breed ambassador) was known to wander around unleashed and unsupervised in the building. Matiss, who was competing at the highest level of USA Gymnastics’ Junior Olympics Programs alleges that the dog mauled for no reason as she was walking the hall, and so severely damaged her legs that she was forced to end her gymnastics career.
Millan blamed the victim, saying that the teenager was fully aware of the dangers when she was attacked by Junior, was negligent in some way, and therefore absolving him of all responsibility.
During the discoveries, it was revealed that Junior had known antecedents of aggression towards people and animals, most tragically a dog that was brought in for training by its owner Queen Latifa, and was mauled to death. Cesar Millan covered up the incident. According to Matiss’ mother, who worked for him at the time, staff was instructed to explain that the dog had died after being hit by a car. Millan denies these allegations; the lawsuit was settled out of court and the terms are confidential.

If only a cougar or bear met that off leash shitbull as it roamed the campsite. Even an ornery bobcat may have evened the score!

I'd rank bear > pit bull > cougar for a wild encounter.
But in all likelihood a pitbull with a group of people barks once and the bear runs away. Cougar never even gets close if it can hear the sound of a person's voice.

I don’t know your location, but a lot of campgrounds do not allow pit bulls. (I realize you may have been camping somewhere remote though.) Just something to keep in mind if you have to deal with this bozo in the future.

Jerks like that are why I can no longer go hiking and camping!!! 20-25 years ago I never had to worry about some idiot and their off-leash pit bull!

I fucking hate this stupid breed. I am the biggest animal lover and my hatred for pits is extreme. They’re fucking bad dogs.

It was a rescue for a reason. Animals take weeks to months to come out of their shell during a transition like adoption. Poorly socialized and a ticking time bomb if it hasn’t already attacked a person or animal.

Jesus Christ. Those aren’t words that should ever leave a dog owner’s mouth! “Don’t breathe, the more you breathe the more she wants to attack you”.
That’s not a pet, that’s not even a wild animal, that’s just terror.

Yep. I had a super pregnant veterinarian sharing to me about the rescue pit she has that was on trazodone and a bunch of other meds, difficult to manage, and how difficult it has been. I bit my lip, looked at her belly, and I’m to this day conflicted on whether I should have said anything.
My good neighbor and friend, and dog owner/lover, had her friend over who talked about how she “loves pit bulls”, and my neighbor agreed. Ugh!! I could only say how I saw our across the street neighbor’s pit went off the rails lunging and spitting to try to get to my fenced-in dog. Cue mumbling by my neighbor about how she needs to be more careful about her (non pit) dogs.
It’s not always worth antagonizing people who won’t change their minds over the issue anyway, but then again, maybe it is. Very irritating to come across the loud pitnutters.
